A week on Sunday 29/07 I’m riding the C2C in a day, 120 miles and 10,000ft of climbing to raise money for the NE Air Ambulance in memory of my friend who tragically died aged 44. Please RT justgiving.com/fundraising/h… @stewartdonald3 @Chris_Boardman @GeraintThomas86 @millarmind

Entrepreneurs, the UK government has halved BADR to £500k, on top of their previous 80% increase of the tax rate in the autumn budget. The relief may as well be scrapped.
They’ve introduced a new Founders Relief £10m at 10% which sounds great and it initially sounds like the original entrepreneurs relief….
Expect this new relief comes with crazy conditions to qualify. A startup founder starting today would need to trust that the government won’t change the rules or relief within the next 5 years as that’s the minimum time to qualify, among other nonsensical rules. Would you trust them?
The headline sounds good. The reality is I think very few new startup founders will be too incentivised by that once they learn the criteria to qualify. It has been designed in a way that I doubt many businesses would ever qualify. I don’t think they want founders to get rich.
For me this budget hasn’t shifted the strong likelihood that I will leave the UK and build elsewhere.
I think this government is totally out of touch and out of ideas that are workable. I believe they’re too focussed on pleasing the unproductive in society and playing into the hands of that anti-wealth narrative.

When I set my business up 10 years ago today Employers NI was 13.8%, Corporation Tax was 20% falling to 19% in Apr 2017. The tax free dividend allowance was £5,000, the top rate of tax on dividends was 38.1%. You could sell your business and make the first £10 million of gains at a rate of 10%.
By every single metric setting up a business in this country has become less attractive. Before you get to the mechanism actually trying to do anything as bold as opening a bank account working a 5 day week etc...
No wonder we can’t solve our own problems and keep increasing taxation income…

I doubt many founders will be incentivised to start a business in the UK after they've read the checklist of criteria to qualify.
And that assumes they trust the government to not change the rules or relief threshold.
This is the government who recently imposed an 80% tax increase on BADR for entrepreneurs selling their business and today has cut that relief allowance in half to just £500k.
I hope the free press will keep a watchful eye on which companies and founders who qualify under this scheme, especially around the time it comes into force.
Is this government just out of touch with reality or is this designed for a very small group of people known to the policy creators? Or something else?
I believe this government in particular do not want people to become wealthy, despite the headline.
Is it just #safc fans or are other clubs the same? Players are either shite and will never make it or look exceptional, there’s no middle ground. I’ve not been impressed by Angulo but thought he showed last night that there’s a player there, but needs to adapt to the physicality
Raid ordered by Regis apparently, off the back of some lacklustre performances. Smell drifting over to the SoL where defensive coaching sessions were being held. Expect big improvements on Sunday v Leeds 💪🍁🪴

And people have the gall to question whether he’s the right man for the job?! His ability to focus on key issues facing the country is simply unrivalled…

Unlucky defeats can quickly turn into deserved defeats and abject performances. We are there now. Big players from last season are not at the same levels. The back line is a priority to sort out. Today was a relegation performance.

4 defeats on the trot in PL by two clear goals , 11 conceded and just the 3 goals v City. Last season was built around a good defence , what’s gone wrong ? Starting to get worrying now.
I’d love to see the #Safc corners to defensive free kick ratio. Pretty sure the referee gave a free kick from every corner we delivered! #notouching
