PA DEP has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in the Monongahela Valley for Tuesday, October 20, 2026. High pressure over the region will lead to calm winds and limited air mixing, creating an inversion that traps pollutants near the surface during the morning hours. As a result, some hourly PM2.5 levels may reach Code Orange or higher. While PM2.5 standards are based on a 24‑hour average, individual hours can vary above or below that level. A Code Orange day means air quality may be unhealthy for sensitive groups, so residents are encouraged to take precautions—especially during the morning inversion period. Stay informed and take steps to reduce exposure. bit.ly/4zMi4SK

Safety is a ghoul’s best friend. 👻 Decorating for Halloween? • Use glow sticks or battery-operated candles instead of open flames 🎃 • Keep decor away from flames/other heat sources ↔️ • Keep exits clear of decorations 🚪 • Read string light instructions and throw away worn/damaged strands 🚮 • Don't run cords across doorways or under rugs 🚫

I’ve spoken with Mayor Devlin and offered my Administration’s full support following the tragic mass shooting in Erie last night — killing nine of our fellow Pennsylvanians. My heart breaks for this family. Lori and I are praying for their loved ones and the entire Erie community.

Today we lost one of Pennsylvania’s finest — Philadelphia Police Officer Shane Seiber, who was shot and killed in the line of duty. Lori and I are praying for Officer Seiber’s loved ones and the entire @PhillyPolice family as they grieve the loss of one of their brothers in uniform. Our law enforcement officers are the very best of us. They put their lives on the line every day, running towards danger to keep their fellow Pennsylvanians safe, not knowing if they will return home. We owe them our deepest gratitude. I’ve ordered U.S. and Pennsylvania flags on all Commonwealth grounds to fly at half-staff in honor of Officer Seiber’s memory — may it forever be a blessing.

4. If you get benefits, sign up for electronic deposit. It is common for mail to be interrupted in a disaster or emergency. 💵📥 Electronic deposits make it less likely that the money you depend on will be delayed.

Don’t: Panic🚫 Do: Prepare ✅ 🤳 Tornadoes can form in minutes. Have at least two ways to get weather alerts. 🏡 Basements are best. Outside? Know where the closest sturdy shelter is and how you'll get there.
