"we torture elephants for our devotion, then punish them for reacting to our cruelty"
💔💔💔
Devotees who think this is a faith issue must understand that making these 🐘 captive & selling them is a lucrative business which gives both the traders & temples crores of money!
WE TORTURE ELEPHANTS FOR OUR DEVOTION, THEN PUNISH THEM FOR REACTING TO OUR CRUELTY. WHEN WILL WE LEARN?
A temple elephant, forced to endure a procession filled with crowds, deafening noise, and immense stress, ran away. But before blaming the elephant, let us question the humans who put it in that situation.
We force these magnificent, intelligent beings to stand for hours amidst chaos, carry heavy loads, and participate in unnatural activities for our rituals and celebrations. We expect them to endure everything silently, without fear, distress, or resistance. And when their suffering finally manifests as a reaction, we poke them with bullhooks, punish them, and blame them for being dangerous.
How can we inflict suffering on a living being and then punish it for expressing that suffering?
An elephant running away is not necessarily an act of aggression. It may be an attempt to escape an overwhelming situation. Instead of asking why the elephant reacted, we must ask why we forced it to endure such distress in the first place.
If elephants are considered representatives of the divine, shouldn't our devotion inspire compassion, respect, and protection? How can we claim to honour a sacred being while denying it freedom, dignity, and the right to live without fear?
Devotion should never be an excuse for cruelty. Tradition should never be a justification for suffering.
Elephants are not slaves, ceremonial objects, or instruments of religious celebration. They are sentient beings with their own needs, emotions, and natural behaviours.
It is time we stopped forcing elephants to suffer in the name of devotion. Let our faith be reflected not in how we use these magnificent beings, but in how compassionately we treat them.
If we truly respect the divine, let us stop making its representatives suffer. Elephants deserve freedom, not chains; compassion, not bullhooks; and dignity, not captivity.

An elephant is not a machine for human entertainment, a tourist ride, or a ceremonial showpiece.
This video raises disturbing questions about the way these gentle giants are captured, handled, restrained, and exploited.
Tradition is never an excuse for cruelty. Elephants deserve compassion, proper care, dignity, and freedom from abuse.
How long will we turn a blind eye? Authorities must investigate cruelty wherever it occurs and enforce animal-protection laws.
Their silence is not consent. Be their voice.

I couldn't agree more. Wild animals belong in the wild, not dressed up for processions. Together we can push for change. 🐘 #AnimalWelfare

Born free to be in chains & stress for life….
These type of incidents keep repeating. And our foolishness to tame the wild also keeps repeating.

every religion preaches compassion not cruelty. what exactly is tradition? they evolve with progressing times.do we wear traditional dhoti today? we pour water on a burn not tie it up..IN elephant tradition they r BORN FREE.Period @PFCII this is abuse no tradition
LOOK AT HOW THIS ELEPHANT IS CHAINED IN SHIVAMOGGA, KARNATAKA.
His legs restrained, his movement restricted, his body painted and decorated for a religious procession.
Even criminals arent chained like this, but an innocent animal?
THIS IS THE REALITY OF TEMPLE ELEPHANTS BEHIND THE GLORY OF OUR FESTIVALS.
We celebrate tradition while these sentient beings pay the price with their freedom and dignity.
And now, 5 elephants from Assam are facing a future in Tamil Nadu. Is this the life that awaits them too? Chains, confinement, forced participation in religious ceremonies and a lifetime of being controlled for human beliefs?
We cannot allow their future to become another story of captivity and suffering.
RELIGION IS NO EXCUSE FOR CRUELTY. TRADITION DOES NOT JUSTIFY CHAINS.
We must speak up NOW. Save these five elephants from a future of captivity. They deserve to live as elephants, not as prisoners of human tradition.

Karma come.
Please come fast
Video 1:
Chains or metal restraints appear to be attached to the elephants.
Bands or restraints are visible around their lower legs.
A handler walks very close to the elephants and appears to hit them with sticks which has a sharp hook equipment and a chain.
The elephants are moving along a hard, paved surface at night, near people and buildings.
Video 2:
Elephants are standing in a covered, concrete-floored area.
A metal chain is visibly attached to the front leg of at least one elephant and secured near the ground.
The elephants appear to have restricted movement within their individual spaces.
Video 3:
Metal restraints or chains appear around its lower legs.
The elephant is in a crowded temple interior with hard flooring and limited open space.
Elephants can never live at peace in such extreme cruel conditions!

Elephants are domesticated through force and torture. They aren't cats and dogs who love to please humans. Elephants are deeply emotional animals who live with their herd & grieve for their own. The spirit of elephants is broken completely in temples.

PROOF ENOUGH. ELEPHANTS BELONG IN THE WILD, NOT IN CAPTIVITY.
The #Dasara procession in Shivamogga turned into a tragedy. An elephant carrying the #Ambari ran amok through the streets, damaging buildings and vehicles before the 650-kg silver Ambari fell to the ground.
How many more warnings do we need?
Elephants are wild, highly intelligent, sensitive beings, not ceremonial props to be paraded through crowded streets, surrounded by noise, chaos and people, with no freedom to choose where they belong.
Tradition can never justify putting lives at risk, human or animal.
Elephants belong with their families, roaming freely in their natural habitats. Not in chains. Not in processions. Not in temples.
Let devotion mean compassion. End elephant captivity. Let them be wild and free.

Fooling devotees in the name of faith & tradition, elephant traders earn crores & temples get unreal level of donations. What about the pain of a sentient being? 💔

India should just leave the 🐘 elephants free in the forests and stop bringing them into temples and temple 🛕 processions. Too many such incidents keep happening, especially in Kerala. We need to move on from using and abusing animals - especially elephants 🐘
Just use those mechatronic elephants to satisfy your photography needs.

@suchetadalal the documents are fake, the judgement came through influence, immediately 5 baby elephants were taken to TN temples. Apart from being illegal, it's very very tragic. They are very little and have min 50 years of isolated captivity ahead. Please can you expose this💔
