Friends, I could really use some help. A large group of Amish builders from Ohio are spending the next FIVE MONTHS fixing homes damaged by Hurricane Helene for FREE in Western North Carolina and South Carolina. There's just one problem... the Amish don't drive, so they need drivers to take them back and forth to job sites and drop off trailers (if you have a truck). I have already volunteered to help, but we need more volunteers. If you feel led and are in the area, there's a sign up sheet in the comments. You'll get free breakfast and free dinner too + you'll get to meet some of the heroes who have been working here to rebuild.

Jose Andres says we can’t ban foie gras because we need to solve ICE, global hunger, and ‘so many other issues’ before we can worry about animals. It reminds me of when I collected signatures in Chicago to preserve the city’s foie gras ban. In wealthy parts of town, high-minded liberals would chide me: 'You’re collecting signatures for ducks? People are getting shot in this city. You should be ashamed.’ When I went to the poor parts of town — the places where people were actually getting shot — no one said that. Instead, when I explained how foie gras was made, the near-uniform reaction was: ‘They do that to a bird just so some rich asshole can eat foie gras? That’s f’d up.’ Almost everyone signed. For political elites, banning animal cruelty is a distraction from the Big Serious issues they’re focused on. For most people, it’s just common sense.
What backslash Jessica? 🧐😇So we are banning all meats? If Duck goes all goes next? …I’ve been through this in California…..just lets concentrate on things that matter…..cars with children are being shot by ICE, immigrants working in farms and restaurants being deported many with green cards and even citizens…so many other issues! Yes let’s bring the ducks now….one more issue for restaurants to handle!😅🕊️

Security called me at 6:12 AM today. "Patch every PHP server immediately." I asked what happened. "Two critical vulnerabilities. Remote code execution. No authentication required." Cool. How many PHP servers do we have? According to inventory: 12 According to reality: Nobody knows. We found one running WordPress. Three running old internal tools. One under someone's desk. Two inside vendor appliances. A forgotten employee directory from 2016. And a server named: PHP-OLD-DO-NOT-TOUCH Naturally, that one runs payroll exports. Then we found a PHP 5.6 box. I asked who owned it. The documentation said: BRIAN. Brian left in 2019. We called Brian. He said: "Oh wow, that's still running?" Excellent. By 8 AM, leadership joined the incident call. CEO: "Can hackers actually get in?" Security: "Potentially yes." CEO: "Without a password?" Security: "Yes." CEO: "Then why do WE need passwords?" Not the lesson. Finance asked if we could wait until the weekend to patch because downtime affects revenue. Security explained that the alternative was letting strangers execute code on our servers. Finance asked for a cost comparison. At 9:17, someone suggested temporarily taking the vulnerable websites offline. Marketing refused. "Our campaign is live." So for the next hour, the company officially decided maintaining a landing page for 20% off webinar registration was more important than preventing remote server takeover. We finally patched everything we could find. Then our scanner discovered another PHP server. Hostname: TEMP-PHP-2014 Uptime: 4,512 days. Nobody knows what it does. Nobody owns it. Nobody can shut it down. But every time we block network access, the warehouse stops printing shipping labels. Security has classified it as critical infrastructure. It is running PHP 5.4. The vulnerability has existed longer than half our employees. The emergency patch took four hours. Finding out what PHP actually runs took eleven. The internet isn't held together with code. It's held together with servers everyone is afraid to turn off.

American is 37 years old, she had a heart attack 2 weeks ago She has Cigna for her health insurance and they just mailed her a letter saying “after carefully reviewing the information, we determined the service is not medically necessary.” Her bill is $110,000 for staying in the ER for 2 days “They don't think that saving my life was medically necessary — My total bill so far is currently at $110,000, is how much it costs to save my life. I'm sure there's more bills coming still, but Cigna doesn't think that it was medically necessary” We need health insurance reform and we need it right now in America. Our entire medical system has been turned into a for profit scam Just know if something like this happens to you, there is Federal Law that essentially says it has to be covered Federal law under the ACA and No Surprises Act rules requires coverage of emergency services based on the prudent layperson standard: whether a reasonable person with average knowledge of health and medicine, looking at the symptoms at the time, would believe immediate care was needed to avoid serious harm This just shows that coverage for this woman should have never been denied Health insurance companies are out of control

3 DAYS. That's how long Major has left. 3 days. Major is Shane Lilly's Belgian Malinois. In March 2025 a pickup truck hit him in Austin. A woman, unknown to Major, was trying to lift him into a car, and the injured, scared dog bit her. He has now spent 554 days alone in a shelter cell. Lilly has filed a federal disability lawsuit under the ADA, saying Austin never considered Major's role as his service animal. A judge has blocked the euthanasia. For now. He is supposed to rule by Thursday, Oct. 9, on whether an independent expert can evaluate Major. Please reach out and help save Major. Call Mayor Kirk Watson at 512-978-2100, or email [email protected]. A scared, hurt dog deserves a second chance, not a needle. #SaveMajor
🚨 Attention dog lovers 🚨 Major is a Belgian Malinois service dog. He has spent more than 545 days alone in an isolation kennel at the Austin Animal Center. No walks. No pets. No people. Now the city wants to put him down. Here's what happened: * March 2025, a pickup truck hit Major. * He was hurt and in pain, and a woman who stopped to help tried to lift him into a car. * He bit her. * A municipal judge ordered him euthanized as a danger to the public. * His human, Shane Lilly, has fought it through the Texas Supreme Court ever since. Now a federal judge has put the euthanasia on hold and is expected to decide within days whether an independent trainer can evaluate Major for rehabilitation. More than 54,000 people have signed the petition to free him. An injured dog snapped while a stranger was moving him. After a year and a half in solitary, Austin's answer is a needle? Want to help? Here's who to reach out to: Austin Animal Services: 512-974-2000 Mayor Kirk Watson's office: 512-978-2100 Ask them to agree to an independent evaluation and release Major to a qualified trainer. Please share this and let's get as many people as possible to help this pup!!

Imagine. You have a seizure. You fall. You shake helplessly. Your muscles no longer belong to you. It scares you. When you have regained control of your own body, you go to the ER. They send you to get an MRI. They hand you a blue gown. You go into a dressing room and take off your blouse and skirt. You slip into the hospital gown. You tie it tightly in the back, but you still feel exposed. You lay on the table. The room is empty. Then you feel it. The loss of control. Again. Right there on the table. You are alone in the room. You can't move. You can't call for help. The door creakes open. Help is coming, you hope. A man enters. He sees you on the table, dressed in nothing but a hospital gown. Unable to resist. He sees his opportunity. He unties the gown, exposes you, and does things that I will not mention here. While you cannot move. While you cannot cry out. While you cannot fight back. Later, you report it. The police contact the hospital. The surveillance footage shows it all. The man is arrested. Before justice can be done, however, the District Attorney swoops in, like a hero wearing a cape, to save the day. But not for you. For the man who violated you. She offers him a plea deal. 30 days in jail. That's all his abuse of you is worth, in her eyes. One month. This prosecutor says she wants to reduce "unnecessary" punishments. Apparently she thinks keeping your abuser off the streets is unnecessary. Now imagine, this experience leaves you feeling vulnerable - feeling even more scared than you were when you went in to the hospital. You know that predator is back on the streets. You think about getting a dog to protect you. Not so fast. In your city of Tucson, Arizona, the local government is throwing its whole weight behind an effort to euthanize a dog — a livestock guardian dog — who made a single, isolated mistake and bit a family member while under duress, trying to keep his home and animals safe against coyotes. One mistake made in the heat of the moment, trying to defend what it holds dear — its family — and the local government is going after it with everything it has. The man who sexually abused you is walking free, able to do it again, given the opportunity. Freedom for rapist monsters. Death for dogs defending the vulnerable. You don't have to imagine it. It's true. @Conover17L, you need to go. #SaveSnuggles
