Ask the Great British public for ideas about the NHS...we have the predictable bin fire of opinions - too many managers, fines, charge immigrants, nurses are too fat, they don't need degrees etc etc. I pity the civil servant who has to sift through this: change.nhs.uk/en-GB/projectsโ€ฆ

Before supermarkets delivered, we went to a packed store just before Christmas. It was chaos. Rather than battle our way round we simply found an unattended full trolley and took it to the checkout. Everyone buys the same stuff for Christmas. Sorry whoever had to start again.

We will trial the use of a drone to transport urgent blood samples from Guy's Hospital to St Thomas' Hospital. With @Apianaero and @Wing, the pilot project should improve patient care by speeding up turnaround times - from 30 mins by road to 2 mins: guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/news/โ€ฆ

Powerful senior leaders this morningโ€ฆ heartening to be part of an organisation that doesnโ€™t shy away from these awful racist riots that have been going on, and doesnโ€™t dilute the language ๐Ÿ’™

I met with one of our junior doctors today to talk through and hopefully reassure them about the investigation process. A 20 min conversation which really hit home to me the impact these things have on staff (not at all forgetting patients and families) ๐Ÿ’™

My son glanced at his colleagues desktop today as he went past, she was looking salt a YouTube video โ€œnarcissistic over bearing boss and how to deal with oneโ€ I mean, itโ€™s ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ but I guess not if you have reached that conclusion about your boss!

Not me studying Instagram and Twitter videos of Royal Ascot to check that my grown up* son is okโ€ฆ. *adult ** ok then, 25.

Once again Iโ€™m in awe of the response to a critical incident that we are having to deal with. The commitment of colleagues across the board is amazing. Truly. ๐Ÿ’™

I have been asked for advice about improving organisational culture. My view? DON'T start by setting up a "culture change" programme or a direct "culture" intervention. Culture gets changed when people start doing real work differently. Culture change is a byproduct of wider improvements. See for instance: hbswk.hbs.edu/item/to-changeโ€ฆ. Via @HBSWK
