I had several people ask about how the IR-SENSE film works with smartphones. This video by @RogerSeheult offers a great summary and a direct link for the discounted @medcram price. youtube.com/watch?v=PLJrvn0u…

The only absorption line it got correctly is H2O at 720nm. All the others are wrong!

Here's how I phrased the latest request: "identify the telluric wavelengths on the sunset spectral chart and draw lines corresponding to their position making sure you include the specific wavelength values for each one"

I have a challenge for everyone here. Let's see who can get Grok to correctly annotate the spectral chart of the sunset. It's a simple task of drawing lines that any child should be able to do. For some reason, Grok can't seem to do it no matter how many times I try. Maybe it's just my style in how I phrase the request. Here's the best I got.

This looks interesting because EML is what actually matters when you want to eliminate ALAN.

In its current version, the app provides quantitative infrared radiance and equivalent melanopic lux (EML) values by simply pointing the camera at an object or light. For example, we are comparing below the NIR output and EML of a NIR-enhanced lamp to sunlight reflected from a green tree leaf.

Here's the same video directly on the X platform, which will make it more accessible to those interested.

You can also retrofit any LED bulb to produce a full spectrum with continuous NIR fairly inexpensively. Check out this video on how that's done: youtube.com/watch?v=VrxHdK15…

Spectrum of the sunset over the ocean. When the sun is low on the horizon, sunlight travels through more of the atmosphere, and the blue light is significantly scattered, leaving mostly the longer red and near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths. The red/NIR absorption (telluric) lines are also stronger because some of the longer wavelengths are further attenuated by more water vapor and oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere.
