When we say DEVELOP we mean it… not just buildings @blackbushpei but nesting boxes for swallows.
Tree swallows are an insect eating birds and are crucial to a healthy ecosystem. Many insect eating birds are in global decline due to threats such as climate change, habitat loss and pesticide use.
Tree swallows are cavity nesting birds but are unable to carve out their own holes. As such providing habitat with tree swallow nesting boxes goes a long way in providing a safe space to nest and raise their young.

Over $4600 in cash and a FULL bus. What a first day for Stuff A Bus.
Thank you Tignish for your overwhelming support for the West Prince Caring cupboard. #PEI
Alas, the season is winding down but #StuffTheBus food drive with @Ocean100 is ramping up. With increasing needs from local food banks we again encourage all part time Islanders closing up their cottages after a glorious season on #PEI to donate funds or food
Back in the day in 1993! The Premier, Leader of the Opposition, Lt Governor, Speaker and Deputy speaker were all women in #PEI #PrinceEdwardIsland #FamousFive
You've probably heard of The Famous Five who brought forward The Persons Case.
But, have you heard of PEI's Famous Five?
In 1993, for the only time in Canadian history, five women held the five most influential positions of government in a province.
Let's learn more!
The year 1993 was a landmark year for PEI in politics. The election that year saw the first time two women led the two main parties into an election. It was also the first time a woman led her party to victory in election.
Who were the five women who held those five positions that year?
Premier Catherine Callbeck:
She served in the PEI Legislature from 1974 to 1978, then in Parliament from 1988 to 1993.
In 1993, she became the first woman to be elected premier of a province. She served as PEI's premier from 1993 to 1996 and brought in many changes to the province.
She later served as a Senator from 1997 to 2014, and as is currently the Chancellor of the University of PEI.
Lt. Governor Marion Reid:
She served as an MLA in the PEI Legislature from 1979 to 1989, during which time she became the first female Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of PEI.
In 1990, she was appointed as the Lt. Governor of PEI, serving until 1995.
She died on June 22, 2023.
Leader of the Opposition Pat Mella:
She served as the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of PEI from 1990 to 1996. She was elected to the Legislature in 1993, serving until 2003.
Speaker Nancy Guptill:
She served as an MLA in the PEI Legislature from 1987 to 2000. During that time, she was the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of PEI from 1993 to 1996.
She died on Aug. 24, 2020.
Deputy Speaker Libbe Hubley:
She was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1989, serving until 1996. From 1993 to 1996, she was the Deputy Speaker of the Legislature. She later served as a Senator from 2001 to 2017.
While not officially a member of the PEI Famous Five, Margaret MacKinnon was the aide-de-camp of the Lt. Governor and was the first woman to hold that position.
