The day focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of technical safeguards for responsible AI use and identifying key areas that media houses should address when developing newsroom AI policies. Dastan Kamanzi, Executive Director of TMF, led discussions on technical safeguards for responsible AI use, while Adv. Robert Sylivester Majige, TMC’s Policy and Civic Tech Lead, guided participants through “From Principle to Rules: What Should AI Policy Cover?” The discussion focused on translating AI governance principles into practical policy provisions for media organisations. Participants also engaged in peer learning, comparing newsroom experiences and practical approaches to AI adoption under the supervision of Anuar Said, TMC Trainer and Consultant. The day concluded with preparations for group assignments and policy drafting, coordinated by Janet John Kahindi, TMC’s Policy and Programs Coordinator. Day Two outcomes: Participants explored technical safeguards, examined the essential areas to be covered by newsroom AI policies, shared practical experiences, and prepared for collaborative policy drafting on Day Three. These activities established the groundwork for developing practical AI governance policies tailored to media houses’ operational needs. The workshop continues to advance TMC’s commitment to responsible AI adoption, journalistic integrity, and accountable digital transformation in Tanzania’s media landscape. #TMC #AIGovernance #AIinJournalism #TDC2026 #AIPolicy #MediaDevelopment
