A record number of officers were barred from policing last year for offences including child sexual abuse, rape and stalking, new figures reveal. In total, 757 were banned from serving after they were sacked for breaching professional standards, up from 735 in 2024/25 and 594 in 2023/24. It is the highest number in a year since the barred list was introduced at the end of 2017. Five superintendents and four chief superintendents were among those banned for life from policing.

Former Private Pilot License Holder here. My thoughts on the Leers accident? I don't have any, why? because I've never flown or qualified for the Leer (or any Jet powered aircraft), because I wasn't in the cockpit and because I'm not a fucking NTSB investigator. My only thoughts are of sympathy for the families in their time of loss.

WORD OF THE DAY: FLAPDOODLER: Someone who talks or writes pompous, boastful or absolute nonsense. Quite frankly, considering some of the people I encounter online, I think this word is LONG overdue a revival! It's wonderfully descriptive, gloriously old-fashioned and considerably more polite than some of the alternatives! So, who's joining me in bringing back FLAPDOODLER? And more importantlyโ€ฆ how many people immediately sprang to mind when you read the definition? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Dear All - Update on last Monday Nightโ€™s Space. During the UK Political space on Monday night, the host, Nil, had one of her windows smashed, you may have heard the recording. It was not an antisemitic attack and it had nothing to do with X. It was a couple of local kids who have been caught on camera & the police are investigating. Nil is ok if a bit miffed as you would be! We look forward to hearing you in next Mondayโ€™s space - happy burnham budget day! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

PETITION STARTED BY LEAHโ€™S PARENTS - please sign and share ๐Ÿ™ Our daughter Leah Croucher went missing on 15 February 2019, walking to work. Her body was found three and a half years later, in the loft of a house half a mile from our family home. The man who killed her, Neil Maxwell, was a convicted sex offender with a history of serious offending going back to 1998. Months before Leah disappeared, he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman and was sentenced to a Community Order, not prison. The Probation Service wrongly classified him as medium risk instead of high risk. He then missed a number of Probation appointments, and a police officer raised concerns about his lack of communication just weeks before Leah went missing. He evaded arrest for six months. During that time, he murdered Leah and took his own life. The Coroner ruled that Leah was unlawfully killed, and that failures by the Police and Probation Service in monitoring Maxwell "may have played a part" in her death. That's why we, Leah's parents, are calling for Leah's Law: a mandatory minimum prison sentence for anyone convicted of a third sexual offence.ย  Mandatory minimums already exist for domestic burglary and Class A drug trafficking. There's no justifiable reason sexual offending should be treated more leniently. By a third conviction, it is self-evident that the offender has not been sufficiently deterred from further offending. Where a case falls below that threshold, we are calling for a District Judge to oversee sentencing in all repeat sexual offence cases, so a decision like the one that let Maxwell walk free can never be made again. This would have ensured he had no opportunity to kill Leah, and that the risk he presented on his release would have been vastly reduced. Sign for Leah, and for every family this could still protect. change.org/p/leah-s-law-mandโ€ฆ

The problem with being impartial on right wing politics, especially with Restore & Reform, is that any criticism or questioning of one side automatically gets you accused of siding with the other. As someone on the fence, I see awful behaviour and game play on all sides. Most of it is just social media. What actually matters is what happens on the streets, in branches and at meetings Sadly too many people do very little whilst claiming to be 'saving the country' yet they can't even save themselves from their own excuses, bad habits or dramatics We should all be mature enough to understand that criticisms and questions are not attacks, and the immense progress that civil discourse can make ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโค๏ธ

I hope it's okay to share the work by Jennifer Thetford-Kay. ๐ŸŽ™ Creating A NEW DISABILITY SETTLEMENT by Jennifer Thetford-Kay โฌ‡๏ธ Video & link of the draft on original post โฌ‡๏ธ Please watch, share and add your thoughts especially where you think the draft settlement still needs challenging or strengthening ๐Ÿ’œ A huge thank you to Jennifer for taking the time to tackle the damaging โ€œfakingโ€ narrative around disability, the pressures on families and carers, and why lasting reform in health and social care needs something much bigger than another short-term initiative. Jennifer shares that "We need cross-party agreement around a long-term disability settlement that survives changes of government. Disabled people, families, carers and care professionals need systems that are joined up, workable and built around real lives โ€” not departmental silos" Aditus Potens AFโ„ข #AditusPotensAF Understanding Disability. #disabilities #carers #health #socialcare #crisis #adituspotensAF #nhs #autism #learningdisability #respite #homecare #carehomes #fakingdisabilities nitter.gq/snethabadhan/status/21โ€ฆ
"Faking" Narrative & Disabilities with Jennifer Thetford-Kay @JenKteach Aditus Potens AF A pathway to that power! *A MUST WATCH* Jennifer is dedicated to developing health and social care policies that offer a clear pathway to empowering individuals, families, and care professionals across the sector. Jennifer is a Designated Safeguarding Lead and former Registered Manager with extensive health and social care experience across multiple sectors, including care homes. In addition, she has a background in teaching health and social care in higher education. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Saturday โ€˜pubโ€™ chat scheduled for this evening as usual ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง New speakers always warmly encouraged to join in amongst our now weekly regulars ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Request a mic, find your voice and look to add to the points and perspectives being discussed or choose to raise the topics you feel need further attention, focus or insight. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง In true pub style the โ€˜wait at the barโ€™ can increase as the evening progresses so we always encourage early punters to take the mic and look to somewhat avoid that queue. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Have a good day all ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง nitter.gq/i/spaces/1RJjpbPโ€ฆ
