Two weeks ago, we made Top K faster. This week, we made COUNT faster, and explored how real search workloads combine text with filters and sort orders.

We just dropped key_field from our CREATE INDEX syntax.
Before:
CREATE INDEX ON items
USING paradedb (id, title, description)
WITH (key_field='id');
After:
CREATE INDEX ON items
USING paradedb (title, description);
It's small, but also one less thing to think about when adding search to Postgres.
Two weeks ago, @PlanetScale launched TIN. They benchmarked it against us, and it was very fast. So we spent those two weeks making ParadeDB faster without their tradeoffs.
Today, we are faster than TIN.

ParadeDB is now available as a plugin on @cursor_ai's plugin marketplace:
Software Should Work, a first-year conference in Columbia, Missouri, pulled off something we don't see much anymore: two days of people who just love the work, talking to each other with no agenda beyond doing it better.
Recordings up, starting with @filpizlo on Fil-C: youtu.be/5F-2Y1LPRek
Congrats to @isaacvando for making the magic happen, and see you all there next year.
If you didn't make it check out who spoke, it really was an amazing lineup.

You have a product, and it needs search. You have agents, and they need retrieval.
We're building ParadeDB Cloud for you, so you can focus on shipping: one Postgres for your data, full-text search, vector retrieval, and aggregations.

To explore how methodology can color results we used our open-source benchmarker to compare ParadeDB and Postgres FTS three times.
- P1 (1 term, closed loop): within 10%
- P2 (40-term rotation): 29x throughput
- P3 (open loop @ 50 QPS): 47x P99
