I love pop-up text jokes, they reinforce an idea in a subversively subtle way. And it's funnier when the words lack any context.

It always comes down to how people expect "real things" to look like. Lots of toon characters have unieyes, but if they want them to look even more real, they usually have to separate them to appeal to us real people.

I've talked about this several times before but it is truly wild just now massive Li'l Abner was for several decades on end. Al Capp could very well have been the third most well-known cartoonist to the average person after Walt Disney and Charles Schulz. And he blew it all
kids in the 80s really were like "yo bro the newest the shmoo episode was straight fire🔥🔥🔥🔥😂😂✋✋"

My turning point was watching Hong Kong Phooey as an 8 year old and wondering why it had a laugh track.

Effort-signaling. The labor becoming an integral character to the point where the final product ends up being a secondary concern.
Prada’s new campaign! They hired Legendary ex-Disney artist John Pomery and even used his process sketches in the campaign🥹

This cat may have never hunted in its life. So the action is just an instinctual thing that may even be a comfort behaviour. Do we say that 'humans are voracious hunters' and when a toddler windmill swings at their peer 'this maneuver is called a hammer fist, used to beat prey'?

A thing im tired of seeing in mascot horror is when they clearly base themselves off of 90s aesthetics but all of the in universe art is clean and digitally done while also being inspired off of 2010s design trends

It's so funny when a mainstream project flops in the public eye and some unfortunate art history/comms major intern has to go on twitter and defend their institution with "it can't be bad, it's a *reference* to art we decided is good!" followed by scoldy academese
