Here’s an out the box thought, if Russia just left Ukraine, or hadn’t even invaded in the first place, nobody would have died 🤷♂️
How about that for a radical idea…..just throwing it out there

#Saints fans boycotting games might send a message, but it won’t necessarily hurt ownership’s pockets. If the tickets are already sold, that money is already made. Add in the NFL’s massive TV revenue, and empty seats hurt the team’s image more than its bottom line.

mocking the gaudy decor of the Cheesecake Factory is coastal elite snobbery, but it’s A-OK to knock a lodging chain that’s sheltered tens of millions of truckers, seasonal workers, and families traveling on tight budgets. got it got it got it. just memorizing the rules!

Republicans spend years telling everyone, “Trump was just joking! Why can't you take a joke?”
Then Obama makes one Cheesecake Factory joke, and they lose their minds for days.

The Cheesecake Factory stuff is a really good encapsulation of conservative discourse during the Obama era for folks not old enough to have experienced it. Endless whining and mind-loss over something they wouldn’t even notice if someone else said it. Eight years of that!

Perhaps people have forgotten or were too young to remember but when conservatives swear to you that Obama was a divisive president, it’s because of stuff like this. He would say the most innocuous thing and we would get days of “Dem elitist” commentary from conservative media and pundits.
Again, it’s not lost on me that Obama compared Trump’s taste to that of Saddam Hussein in the same breath, and that Trump literally said he didn’t care about high gas prices the same day, yet none of that broke through. Because perceived threats to white cultural hegemony are actually what most of the last 10 years of politics have been about.
It’s the same reason why a Democrat’s career would be over for trashing Toledo, Ohio, why we still talk about Hillary’s “deplorables” gaffe, but Republicans say awful things about America’s largest cities and deny them federal funds and there’s barely a whimper of outrage.
the cheesecake factory discourse a back to the future reminder of what 2008-2016 was like on here. Obama makes funny joke revealing he's like the average American (fluent enough in gaudy chain restaurants to jest about a specific chain). GOPers decide it means he's not #oneofus. This goes on for days...

Putin needs to go. Russia deserves a future without a dictator, Ukraine deserves peace without occupation, and the world deserves an end to his aggression.
Putin started this war. The Ukrainian people should not have to surrender their land to end it.
Russia, go home.

only 29% of russians in latest poll (levada center) want the fighting in ukraine to continue. most (64%) want negotiations and an end to the fighting.
sadly they don’t get a vote.

Let me make something absolutely clear.
Ukraine did not invade Russia. Russia invaded Ukraine.
Ukrainians are not fighting because Europeans want an endless war. We are fighting because Russia continues to attack our cities, occupy our territory, and kill our people.
I woke up at 6 AM today because of a Russian drone attack near my home in Kyiv.
And now I am reading accusations that those helping us defend ourselves are the ones prolonging this war.
Do you understand how profoundly dishonest that argument is?
If you genuinely want peace, explain how you intend to stop Russian aggression without stripping Ukrainians of their right to defend themselves.
Peace is not the same as surrender.
And demanding accountability from Russia is not warmongering.
Stop blaming those resisting aggression for the aggression itself.

The Ukrainian desire to fight the Russian invasion is not driven by Zelenskyy or "elites" or anyone in the West. It's driven by regular people who understand that Russia is evil, and that Russia has been trying to reincorporate Ukraine since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
When the Russians advanced towards Kyiv they were met with heavy resistance from the same people that Putin thought, foolishly, would welcome his army with open arms.

It's hilarious how Western Russia apologists keep on insisting this is all about NATO and then Putin just goes out and says "no actually we're imperialist" on a regular basis.
Putin on Ukraine:
The lands lost by Kyiv are not "their territory"; they are historically Russian lands.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Kyiv predates Moscow by centuries, and southern/eastern Ukraine was ruled by the Cossack Hetmanate and Crimean Khanate long before 18th-century Russian Imperial annexation. In 1991, every Ukrainian region voted overwhelmingly for independence, recognized by Russia 1994.

It seems to be that two political theories of the last decade have both been proven true at the same time:
1) the centrist Democrats have not actually brought over a reliable, significant number of centrist Republicans. The vast majority of Rs still think that any R is better than any D and simply hold their noses no matter how awful. We still haven't found a bottom of how low they will sink.
2) When more left-wing candidates have run, the theory that moving to the left will attract new voters who are energized by liberal populism has not really shown up in election results either, with a few exceptions in already liberal areas.
I think that part of the internal struggle of the Democratic party is that neither its centrist nor left leaning wings have been able to grow the party in sustainable ways. We are all still just fighting over the same 2-3% of anti-incumbent swing voters each cycle.
Does that seem right?

I think it’s long overdue that churches of all denominations or non-denomination, should pay some sort of taxes. And the super rich to wealthy Televangelist should be paying the same percentage of taxes that we all pay. And churches that preach politics, how to vote, should pay the full amount of taxes.

2030 - just give up half of Europe for peace

I found a solution to end the war in Ukraine.
PUTIN, GO THE FUCK HOME.
It’s really that simple. Russia invaded Ukraine. Ukraine has every right to defend its own country.
Want peace? Start by getting Russian troops the fuck out of Ukraine.
