Sometimes we ask God for the next step while still negotiating the last instruction. That challenges me, too. We can sincerely want His direction and still struggle with what obedience will require us to release. In my ALIGN Devotional, I wrote, “You can’t carry your cross and bring everything else with you. Something has to be laid down.” Following Jesus reaches into our ambitions, our reactions, our need to be right, and our desire to stay comfortable. Surrender becomes real in the choices we make when His way costs us something. My prayer today is simple: Lord, show me what I’m holding that keeps me from following You wholeheartedly—and give me grace to release it. Sometimes faith doesn’t just believe for what is coming. Faith makes room for what’s coming.

Jesus is the answer for the world today. Above Him, there’s no other; Jesus is the way.

Build according to the pattern. Don’t change the pattern to fit the culture. Don’t compromise the pattern for applause. Don’t abandon the pattern because the process is difficult. Build what God showed you. Build it how God showed you. #buildaccordingtothepattern

Popularity is not the pattern. Applause is not the pattern. Culture is not the pattern. Preference is not the pattern. God’s Word is the pattern.

There is a difference between asking God to bless what we built and asking God to show us what He is building.

God desires wholeness. He doesn’t simply give us an inheritance; He provides what is necessary for that inheritance to flourish. Lord, thank You for the mountain. Now give me the springs, the wisdom, the peace, the strength, the favor, and the presence to steward every blessing You’ve placed in my hands. “So Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.” — Joshua 15:19
