The @CdnChamberofCom “BDL Now” tool was projecting 4% for Q2 as far back as June. Far above most forecasters, but close to actual: 3.3 + 0.4 revision to Q1 (which, combined, may be a good way to think about the nowcast). Very useful tool: businessdatalab.ca/bdlnow/ #cdnecon
BREAKING NEWS: Canada's economy grew by an annualized 3.3% in second quarter, fastest pace since 2023. StatsCan also revises Q1 numbers to 0.3% growth. Remember concerns about technical recession. Yeah, there wasn't one. The rebound in growth was driven by exports and investment - which means business led the charge.
A weekly average of $1.2 billion in grains and fertilizer has come to a standstill on just one rail line. With fall being a seasonally high-traffic period for grains, this disruption couldn’t have come at a worse time.

After holding steady for most of 2024, Canadian job postings dipped in May, and now stand where they did in Feb-2020 (seasonally adjusted).
I don't think this is flashing red for the job market (would need to see more of a trend), just a sign that the cool down continues.
