If I - a performer - want to share a clip from a concert with an ensemble, I have to get permission from all the players. If the piece is in copyright, there are big hoops (+ money) with publishers. How did we get from there to current discourse without any in between steps?

We welcome today's @CommonsCMS report on Creator Remuneration, which makes important recommendations to ensure creators are fairly paid when their works are used.
It is particularly encouraging to see the Committee recognise the vital contribution of songwriters and composers to the industry’s success and the need to protect and grow the value of musical works to ensure creators are fairly paid for the use of their works online.
We strongly support the Committee’s renewed recommendation for government to develop mechanisms to ensure creators can enforce consent and receive fair compensation for the use of their works by AI developers. Protecting the value of human creativity is paramount to the UK's music and creative sectors.
We will continue to proactively engage with the government, including via the forthcoming Creator Remuneration Working Group.

We are appalled that the Government is once again singling out arts & creative subjects for funding cuts in Higher Education.
Many courses have already closed and a growing number are at risk.
This attack on the arts must stop now.

We commissioned an independent investigation in response to an open letter from the Secretary of State about @ResearchEngland’s EDI advisory group. Today we are releasing the outcome of that investigation, with thanks to all involved for their patience: ukri.org/news/outcome-of-inv…

ALT A screen shot of the findings from the investigation. In summary: The UKRI Board has found no evidence of a breach of the Research England Expert Advisory Group on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion’s terms of reference and no failure to uphold the Seven Principles of Public Life. The Board found no evidence in the public domain of support for a proscribed terrorist organisation or the sharing of extremist material and no grounds to remove any individual members of the Expert Advisory Group. UKRI regrets any difficulties experienced by members of the EAG during this period. We now warmly invite the group to reconvene and to contribute their expertise as we resume the group’s important work.
