Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), who co-chairs the House antisemitism task force, said Monday afternoon that Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed needs to more forcefully condemn an antisemitic ad being run by an outside group promoting his campaign or “he’s full of s***.”
The exchange relates to an ad shared last week by far-left commentator Cenk Uygur that blames Israel for grocery prices in the United States and promotes El-Sayed’s campaign, which has been roundly condemned as antisemitic. The ad was produced by a super PAC run by Uygur, not by El-Sayed’s campaign.
Goldman, who lost a primary earlier this year that hinged in large part on his stance on Israel, said El-Sayed needs to explicitly disavow the ad’s message.
“If @AbdulElSayed truly means what he says about treating the Jewish community as he would treat his own children, then he would immediately condemn this dangerous ad as outrageously antisemitic and demand that it be taken down,” Goldman said on X. “If not, then he’s full of s***.”
El-Sayed’s campaign had distanced itself from the ad on Monday, without explicitly addressing its content. “This ad is not affiliated in any way with the Abdul for Senate campaign,” El-Sayed spokesperson Roxie Richner said in an emailed statement. “Abdul is focused on pushing back against Trump’s agenda that is raising prices for Michiganders. No one speaks for Abdul but himself and his campaign.”
