VIRTUAL REALITY - Tony Lopez
The problem, I pointed out, “is money is being stolen. And being hidden.” “Our problem is not a shortage of money. We have plenty of money. Our savings rate is 25 percent. On a GDP of P39 trillion, “that’s more than P7 trillion – P7 trillion money hidden in suitcases, under pillows, under beds.” “The challenge is to stimulate investments,” I said. Addressing thieves in government, I pleaded, “please bring out the money.”

“The best reservoir that we must preserve is our brain reservoir,” I cut in, “Banong-bano tayo. We are becoming incompetent. Nabobobo tayo (We are becoming stupid). It’s because of the politicians. They really are stupid or incompetent).”

A city bus driver in Japan draped a blue cloth over the coin box beside his steering wheel and opened the doors for the morning rush hour.
His union and the bus company's management had reached a bitter deadlock over wages and job security, and the drivers had officially voted to go on strike that morning.
In almost every country on earth, a transit strike means locking the depot gates, shutting down the city, and leaving thousands of ordinary nurses, students, and elderly hospital patients stranded on the curb in the cold.
The Japanese bus drivers decided that punishing innocent neighbors was a dishonorable way to win an argument with their bosses.
So every single driver showed up at dawn in a pressed uniform, inspected their tires, pulled out of the depot right on the minute, and drove every route on schedule, while blocking the fare machine with a blanket so every passenger rode completely free of charge.
Management lost a fortune in fuel and ticket revenue without a single grandmother missing her doctor's appointment or a single kid being late for school.
You know a society has reached a rare level of grace when even a worker's protest is designed to protect the stranger waiting at the bus stop.

Były turbulencje i oblodzenie.
Więc do wszystkich zwolenników teorii spiskowych, do wszystkich tępaków: z odrzutowca spadającego pionowo z prędkością ponad 500 węzłów, tuż poniżej prędkości dźwięku, nic nie zostanie. Brałem udział w badaniu kilku wypadków wojskowych, gdzie zostawał kawałek skóry i obrączka.
Whiz, bez odbioru.”

My coworker's son, Riku, didn't leave his bedroom for three years.
In Japan, there's a word for it. Hikikomori. The government estimates there are about 1.5 million of them. People who close a door one day and don't open it again.
Riku failed his university entrance exams twice. After the second time, at eighteen, he went into his room. His mother left meals outside the door. Some days the tray came back empty. Some days it didn't.
The only thing he did was play an online fishing game. Every evening. Alone.
Until one evening, someone on the lake sent him a message.
"any luck -L"
L was Lyle. 78. A retired machinist from Tennessee. His wife had passed. He said he couldn't sleep, so he fished.
He typed like a man carving letters into a headstone. All lowercase. No punctuation. And he signed every message, like a letter.
"bass arent biting. same as real life -L"
That first month, Riku told him only one true thing:
"I don't go outside."
Lyle took a full day to answer.
"ok. well. we can fish -L"
So they fished. Every evening. Same lake. They caught almost nothing.
Then one night, Lyle asked a question.
"did you open the curtain today -L"
Riku hadn't. The next night, Lyle asked again. And the next.
On the ninth night, Riku opened the curtain.
"good. thats it. thats the whole job -L"
After that, one question a night. Never two.
"did you eat breakfast -L"
"did you open the window -L"
"did you go to the mailbox -L"
"did you walk to the corner -L"
Riku's mother copied the messages into a notebook. She still keeps it by her bed. Some pages:
"you dont have to feel better to get up. you get up then you feel a little better. thats the order -L"
"a bad day is not a bad life -L"
"nobody is behind. youre just on a different mile -L"
"if all you did today was get through it that counts. im counting -L"
In the eleventh month, Riku asked him why he cared about a stranger in Japan.
Lyle took two days to answer.
"1969 i came home from vietnam. didnt leave my room for a year. my mother left plates by the door too. i know about the door -L"
Then:
"curtain first. always curtain first -L"
In the twelfth month, Riku walked to the convenience store. Three hundred meters. He bought a can of coffee and sent Lyle a picture.
Lyle answered in eleven seconds. Riku had never seen him type that fast.
"ATTABOY -L"
The only capital letters Lyle ever typed.
A week later, a message came from Lyle's daughter.
"Please don't tell Dad I told you. He doesn't have insomnia. He never did. For over a year, he set his alarm for 3:45 every morning so he'd be on that lake when you were. He said a boy in Japan needed somebody on the lake."
Riku is 23 now. He works at a bicycle shop. He goes outside every day.
Last summer, he flew to Tennessee. Lyle picked him up in a truck older than Riku, and they went fishing on a real lake.
They caught nothing.
Lyle said it was the best day of fishing he ever had.
Riku still plays that game. Every evening, he goes back to the same lake and looks for anyone who says they don't go outside.
When he finds one, he types:
"did you open the curtain today -R"
So if you're reading this from a room you haven't left in a while, I don't know you. But I know what Lyle would ask.
did you open the curtain today

Elon Musk was asked at a conference whether we might be living in a computer simulation. The audience expected a polite deflection or a joke. Instead he delivered the most unsettling answer any public figure has ever given to a philosophical question, and he delivered it with the calm of a man who has already accepted the conclusion.
He said: "The strongest argument for us being in a simulation is the following. 40 years ago we had Pong. Two rectangles and a dot. That was what games were. Now, 40 years later, we have photorealistic 3D simulations with millions of people playing simultaneously. If you assume any rate of improvement at all, then the games will become indistinguishable from reality. Even if that rate of advancement drops by a thousand from what it is now. Then you just need to say, okay, let's imagine it's 10,000 years in the future, which is nothing in the evolutionary scale. Is it possible that civilization could create a simulation that is indistinguishable from reality? The answer is clearly yes."
Then he delivered the line that went viral: "So given that we're on that trajectory and games are becoming indistinguishable from reality, the probability of us being in base reality is one in billions."
The audience laughed nervously. The laugh was a defense mechanism. The argument was airtight and they could feel it. The progression from Pong to photorealism to indistinguishable simulation is not speculation. It is trajectory. The only variable is time. And the conclusion, if you follow the trajectory honestly, is that the number of simulated realities vastly exceeds the number of base realities. Which means we are almost certainly inside one.
He then added a line that nobody quotes but that reveals more than the famous one: "Either we're going to create simulations that are indistinguishable from reality, or civilization will cease to exist. Those are the only two options."
The answer was not a thought experiment to him. It was a probability assessment. The same man who calculates the probability of rocket failures and production timelines applied the same calculation to the nature of reality and arrived at the conclusion that reality is probably not real. The tone was not dramatic. It was the tone of a man reading a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet said: base reality is statistically unlikely.
The most disturbing aspect is not the answer. It is that the man who gave it continued building rockets and cars and neural interfaces as if the answer changes nothing about what you should do. If reality is a simulation, the correct response is apparently the same as if it isn't: build. The simulation, if it exists, contains everything he cares about. The question of whether it's "real" is less important than the question of what he does inside it. The philosopher asks whether we're in a simulation. The engineer builds regardless. Both questions are correct. Only one produces a rocket.

🚨 BREAKING: Hackers are hitting supermarket freezers in 5 countries at the same time.
This is what Covid looked like in week 1. A few countries. Small numbers. Nobody called it a crisis.
1/ Sweden: stores say hackers hit their cooling overnight. One says fridges and freezers were set to 50°C, and the food spoiled. ICA Kvantum stores in Sjöbo and Tomelilla were hit, plus at least 6 Coop stores. Sjöbo stayed closed through the morning, threw out all affected goods and apologized. ICA says it is working to restore normal operations. In Sankt Olof a store manager said "everything is ruined." Sweden's National Cybersecurity Centre is working on several incidents.
2/ Estonia: the CEO of cooling firm Kitman Coldtech says several clients were targeted and a large chain's freezer was raised to +50°C. It was found and addressed in about 10 minutes, no major damage.
3/ Ireland: SuperValu pulled ALL fresh and frozen food from 13 stores. Its owner, Musgrave, confirmed a "cybersecurity incident" on a "specific model" of fridge.
4/ Luxembourg: Ahold Delhaize says an "IT incident" hit fridges and freezers at dozens of its supermarkets across Luxembourg and Belgium.
5/ Belgium: more than 40 Delhaize, at least 15 Carrefour and around 5 Spar stores were hit. Cold storage climbed to 15°C. Aisles were closed off and large amounts of stock were destroyed. A notice at one Proxy Delhaize said its systems had "fallen victim to hacking."
Now zoom out.
A freezer normally sits at -18°C. In Estonia, hackers reportedly got in through older controllers. In France, the controller maker said many devices were obsolete or ran outdated firmware. Raise the temperature overnight and the food rots. "You can't unspoil food," one professor said.
It did not start today. 3 weeks ago hackers raised freezers at more than 350 sites in France to as high as 50°C. There were fires. Intermarché's CEO put the cost at "tens of millions of euros nationwide in a single day." Sources suspect Russian involvement there. No group has claimed it. That same day an analyst said Spain, Portugal, Poland, Germany and Belgium were affected too.
Covid emptied the shelves. Nobody is calling this a crisis yet. But the Financial Times already puts the ruined food at millions of euros.
Officials say the Pentagon is treating late-August freezer failures on US military bases as a suspected hack. At least 6 base stores were hit. Army investigators are working with French law enforcement.
5 countries in one day. 11 countries named since August.

Walang facts. Puro "my tweety bird said".
GUSTO MONG I-BEAR DOWN ANG MILF?
At anong ginawa nila? Ibinaba nila. 26,145 katao. 4,625 na baril. Sa harap ng buong mundo. May pirma. May witness. May Turkey, Norway, Japan.
Ikaw? Wala. Kahit yabang mo hindi mo kayang isuko.
Tapos tatawagin mo kaming MOKLO?
HINDI KAMI ANG MOKLO. IKAW.
IKAW ANG MOKLO NA TINUTUKOY NG MATATANDA.
M - MAL-EDUKASYON.
Walang US record. Walang Pentagon report. Walang pangalan.
"My tweety bird said" - yan ang source mo? Ibon?

🚨👑 I’VE LAUNCHED A PETITION CALLING ON BUCKINGHAM PALACE TO ACT!
It’s been over SIX YEARS since Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties.
Yet their profiles remain featured on the official Royal Family website, Royal.uk, alongside members who actively serve the Crown.
WHY?
I’ve launched a formal petition calling on the Royal Household to move their profiles to a separate Non-Working Royals or Historical Royal Family section.
This isn’t about erasing history or stripping titles. It’s about accuracy, transparency and recognizing the difference between being a member of the Royal Family and actively representing the monarchy.
If you agree that the official website should reflect that distinction, I invite you to sign and share my petition!

‘CAN YOU AUDIT THE POWERFUL WITH THE SAME ZEAL YOU AUDIT ORDINARY TAXPAYERS?’
“Stop treating MSMEs, startups, and content creators as easy audit targets while questionable wealth among the politically powerful goes unchecked,” giit ni Abrea.
