Can the 60k people being given the boot from Microsoft all get together and form a new company that builds a version of Windows and Office that doesn’t have AI, doesn’t use Sharepoint or OneDrive and doesn’t suck?

I hope this young fella becomes a gold medalist and the racists’ kids don’t.
Police officers were called on a 3 year old Black kid! You know the drill. A 3-year-old Black boy named Nevada was playing in an i9 Sports league in Florida. He was dominating the field against 5-year-olds. By the end of the morning, the police were called to the touchline. Calling the police to a sports field where a three-year-old Black child is playing is an entirely unnecessary and dangerous escalation, especially given the ongoing climate surrounding law enforcement and minority communities. Involving armed officers over a children's sports dispute introduces an unneeded level of risk and trauma for a Black family. Here is what actually happened—and the heartbreaking reality of how it affected him. 👇 There are two sides to what happened next: • The League/Police: Claim a league official called over a "disturbance" involving the parents. They say the family was cooperative and no one was arrested or forced to leave. • The Family: Says they were issued a trespass notice and walked off the field by police. The father’s take: "They really called the police on a 3-year-old because he had the ball too much." But while the adults argue over who said what, the real tragedy is what happened to Nevada. His mother, Martasia Griffin, shared that afterwards, her 3-year-old was crying. He didn't understand adult politics. He just connected the dots using toddler logic. Child psychologists note that at age 3, children experience the world egocentrically. They lack the cognitive framework to understand adult conflict or systemic racism. Instead, they link events directly to their own actions: I played well ➡️ The police arrived ➡️ I did something wrong. Nevada didn’t conclude that the adults were wrong. His 3-year-old brain concluded that he should have scored less. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly routine spaces become unsafe for Black families. In this climate, escalating a toddler's game into a police matter isn’t just an overreaction—it is a dangerous failure to protect Black children.

i find it hilarious that after decades of squeezing every last drop of blood out of the middle class, now capitalists are complaining that not enough people are eating at restaurants, taking trips, using airlines, or buying crap from box stores.

It’s so awesome to see local people like Mary stepping up to defend the vulnerable in our community. People like to quip how it was only supposed to be temp. Was the housing shortage temporary? Is that fixed? No, there’s still no where for anyone to go. They didn’t fix anything

#TeamBear we girls gonna stick together?
Male bears will kill another bear's cubs on purpose, so the mom is ready to mate again in a few days instead of up to two and a half years. Some mother bears figured out how to protect their cubs from it. They started living closer to people. That cub with her paw up is learning to stand, which is how bears check for danger over tall grass. Brooke Bartleson, who filmed her, said cubs this age are so wobbly they flail their arms just to stay upright. That's the "wave." She tipped over a few seconds later. She has good reason to learn fast. Park biologists at Katmai in Alaska figure only a third to half of brown bear cubs make it through their first year, and other bears are a big part of why. One study in Interior Alaska found 69% of cub deaths happened in a 17-day stretch in early June, right in the middle of mating season. So researchers in Sweden set out to see what the successful moms were doing differently. They put GPS collars on 26 mother bears and tracked them from 2005 to 2012. Sixteen of them raised their cubs and ten lost them. The moms who kept their cubs lived about 780 meters from the nearest people. The moms who lost theirs stayed around 1,210 meters away. Male bears avoid humans, and the mothers seem to know it. The ones who made it moved toward villages full of bear hunters, because the woods full of male bears were worse. Now go back and look at the mom in that first photo. She's got her head down eating grass while someone stands right there filming her kids. I can't tell you what was going through her head, but now you know who she was keeping an eye out for. We all grew up being told to stay far away from a mama bear with cubs, and some of those mamas decided the best place to raise them was right next to us.

Consider this: Elon Musk gets handed billions from the government in grants, investments, and tax breaks. He is handed position, jobs, and power. In turn, he "donates" half a billion back into MAGA campaigns. He is taking US tax payers money and laundering it back to MAGA. Then, he gets a tax break back in those donations. Less tax money goes into programs, and more money "donated" to MAGA millionaires. What a disgusting system.

The lesson from Brazil is that democracy cannot be taken for granted. Defeating authoritarianism at the ballot box is only part of the struggle. Defending democratic institutions, protecting civil rights and demanding accountability require strong, sustained, principled public participation.
