Strait of Hormuz flows are hovering at ~13-14 million barrels a day (7-day average). That's about the same as the brief peak in July. But with two notable difference: a) Iranian flows are zero (rather than ~2m b/d); b) all flows are fresh loadings, rather than pre-loaded tankers.

🛢️ Oil and gas is really four businesses, not one.
🔹Upstream (E&P companies, drillers, oilfield services) gets paid on the price of the barrel. Crude drops $20, their revenue drops with it.
🔹Midstream (pipelines, storage, LNG carriers, gas processing) gets paid like a toll road. A fee on every barrel or cubic foot moved, usually on long-term contracts. Volume matters far more than price.
🔹Downstream (refiners, petrochemicals, fuel retail) gets paid on the spread between crude and what they sell. Cheap crude plus firm diesel prices is a refiner's best quarter.
Underneath all 3 sit the EPC contractors, equipment makers, inspection and engineering firms. They get paid when everyone else spends.
When capex gets cut, they're the first to feel it.

🇺🇸 "Regardless of the new tariff structure, the countries affected most directly by the U.S. International Emergency Economic Powers Act #tariffs have been given some relief, at least in relative terms. This is the case for #Brazil, #India, #China, #Canada, and #Mexico, and for Southeast Asian countries that were previously facing rates of 19%-20%.
Recall that extraordinary tariffs on Brazil, with references to former president Jair Bolsonaro’s trial and Brazilian Supreme Federal Court decisions, were applied under IEEPA, as were Trump’s punishments directed at India for buying Russian oil, and China for fentanyl".
