A former student of mine started a podcast and wanted to hear me talk for an hour about democracy and political theory. It’s unedited so all of my grammatical errors and confusions are in the original. open.spotify.com/episode/14s…
Those of us teaching are familiar with the discussion (in true NYT style they found a history professor to wax lyrical on a dark future of robots talking to robots) the real insight is: student perspectives must be part of forming policies on the use of AI podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
During a record breaking heat wave in Texas our pro-death Governor doesn’t miss a chance to be on the wrong side of history and signs another law that harms the people the Governor’s policy doesn’t treat as fully human.

We ended the @MinervaUni in-person meetup last night on a boat, where yours truly organized a murder mystery game (& was easily murdered by the bar).
We did remote before it was cool and we do it better than most but that’s because we know how important in-person is. #unitas2023
The state of Texas, where I live, just executed a person who in all probability innocent. The Supreme Court denied the CERT petition, and Gov. Abbot, a pro-death Governor, gave the order. Unforgivable act by Texas - a state that is an institutionalization of injustice

The University I wish I could have gone to at 18. Amazing place for the next gen of global leaders.
Minerva University is proud to announce that @Netflix founder and philanthropist @reedhastings will support the institution with a $20M gift. With this generous donation, Hastings lays the foundation for Minerva University‘s long-term sustainable growth.

We struggled with Twilight Inscription but my son and I are having a literal ball with Super-Skill Pinball 4-Cade by @gengelstein the closest I ever came to feeling like a real pinball wizard
My students always want to see my dog. They are right about one thing: this dog has a lot to contribute to a philosophy course.
I’ve been remaking memes I find with pictures of my dog. Am I super cool now or even lamer. Don’t answer that.
My son is really enjoying making complicated routes for his bot manufacturing plants with #mechanica by @criticalplay
Having a great time playing #theinitiative by Corey Konieczka. Not the game you’d expect who has Twilight Imperium in his ludography as this one is simple, fantastic family fun. The only trouble is, it’s hard to keep the kid from reading ahead in the story… that comics is 🔥
I’ve been teaching a tutorial on ethics for the futurefor a couple years now, and every time we talk about a new technology I find myself challenging students with the question of ‘how is different than other things we’ve had in the past?’.
What’s fantastic about this @PeopleMakeGames video and it’s predecessor is how well they see through the thin veneer so often adopted by tech companies nowadays, and call it like it is, even comparing it to the practices of coal mining companies in the US in the 19th century.
