One healthcare reform I would push for as an internal medicine physician: When a private health insurer refuses to cover medically necessary treatment and that decision causes a patient harm, the insurance company should face the same medical malpractice liability as the healthcare professionals responsible for treating that patient. You shouldn’t be able to make decisions that jeopardize someone’s life and walk away without accountability.

James Talarico separates legal tax loopholes from outright cheating, and argues that collecting taxes already owed should come before adding new ones “You know, there's, there's crazy stuff in our tax code that says you can write off your private jet, your mega yacht as business expenses, right?” “I mean, this whole tax system that we have now really allows the people at the very top to accumulate and amass more wealth without any taxation.” “I mean, we, I was reading that if we just collected the taxes that the top 1% owes, no new taxes, just collecting what's already owed, it would raise something like $172 billion every year.” “It's both, it's both the legalized loopholes that you can get away with, but it's also people who just know they're not going to get, but no one's going to crack down on them.” w/ @jamestalarico

First, here's what reportedly happened behind the scenes. According to The Washington Post, which spoke with nearly a dozen people in the telecom industry, Elon Musk recently approached the executives of America's three biggest wireless carriers with an unusual proposal. He wanted Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile to let SpaceX use their existing networks so he could launch his own mobile phone service. In simple terms, SpaceX wanted to rent access to their infrastructure and compete directly for their customers. All three carriers turned him down. Their reasoning was straightforward: why give a potential rival access to the very infrastructure it could eventually use to compete against you? T-Mobile's decision was particularly interesting. The company already partners with SpaceX on its T-Satellite direct-to-cell service. Yet T-Mobile CEO Srini Gopalan reportedly personally rejected SpaceX's request to become an MVNO on its network. In other words, T-Mobile was willing to work with SpaceX as a technology partner, but not to help it become a direct wireless competitor. But Musk wasn't ready to give up. Instead of going through the traditional carriers, he began pursuing another path. And that path led to EchoStar, Charlie Ergen, and Boost Mobile.

As the next chair of the Social Security Subcommittee, a top priority will be to expand Social Security benefits by at least $2,400 a year & extend Social Security’s solvency for generations. How? By scrapping the cap & demanding that the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes.

Why was Buttigieg an effective campaign surrogate even in a deeply red part of Mississippi? Because as Secretary, he visited Mississippi and invested in tons of projects there. So when he says "Mississippi Matters," people know he means it. He has a record, not just words.
Harrison County is where Scott Colom and Pete Buttigieg held this rally

Abdul El-Sayed was five years old when he asked his grandfather Jan Johnson a question. “Grandpa, how are you my grandpa?” His grandparents-Jan and Judy had helped raise Abdul in Michigan, and until then Abdul had never had much reason to think about how they were related. But he had begun to notice that he looked nothing like either of them. Abdul was 3 when his parents divorced. His father, Mohamed, later married Jackie Johnson, who helped raise him. Abdul called her Mom. So when he asked Jan how he could be his grandpa, Jan gave him a simple answer. Jackie was Jan’s daughter, and Jackie was Abdul’s mom. Then Jan added, “And because I love you.” When Abdul was older, he spent summers with his father’s family in Alexandria, Egypt. His grandmother there was Soad. She cooked over a small burner with one pot, and Abdul loved to listen to her tell stories. At the end of the summer, he would go back to Michigan, to a cottage on a lake that had been in Jackie’s family for generations. He remembers trying to explain Soad to Grandma Judy. Even now, he says, it is hard to imagine either of his grandmothers knowing what to make of the other’s life. Soad never got to go to school. She had eight children, and two of them died before their first birthdays. When Abdul talked about her as an adult, he still counted those two babies as the aunt and uncle he would have had. Soad used to remind him that he and his cousins in Egypt were no different from one another. He had simply been given chances they had not . As such, she expected him to do something with those opportunities. Abdul thought about Soad years later when he began looking at how long people lived. By his reckoning, there was a gap of about ten years in life expectancy between the part of Michigan where he grew up and Egypt. But what bothered him was that he could find a gap about as large much closer to home. He could get on the freeway in suburban Oakland County, drive south into Detroit and see it in less than half an hour. After medical school, Abdul took on the job of rebuilding Detroit’s health department. Isitoshe, When Abdul ran for the U.S. Senate, Jan and Judy sat together in front of a camera. They told Michigan voters that they had helped raise him. Jan talked about how Abdul had helped children get eyeglasses through his work in public health. Then he mentioned something from their own life that had never been on the news. Their grandson still bought their groceries every week. On Tuesday, Michigan elected Abdul El-Sayed to the United States Senate. When he takes office, he will be the first Muslim ever to serve in the chamber. May the day break

Still no lawsuit filed, so I believe Vanity Fair... and that's very damaging for Jared.
We formally put Vanity Fair and Condé Nast on notice regarding the false and defamatory allegations published about our client, Jared Kushner. Serious questions are now being raised about the credibility of this reporting, including by independent journalists. Despite repeated requests, the author has failed to produce a single bank statement, wire transfer record, account number, or other verifiable evidence supporting these extraordinary accusations. We have seen no indication that Vanity Fair conducted any independent verification of these claims before publishing them. We call on Vanity Fair to clarify publicly whether it independently verified these allegations and, if so, what evidence supports them. Or did it simply republish the author’s claims without conducting its own fact-checking? We have demanded that Vanity Fair remove the article and preserve all records relating to its reporting, fact-checking, editorial review, and publication. Letter attached. More to come.
