Have you noticed it gets cold in winter when people start putting warm clothes on?
Have you noticed that flu season starts after the vaccines are given out?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Flu shots are given before flu season on purpose. The CDC advises getting vaccinated in September or October, ideally by the end of October, because it takes about two weeks after vaccination for protective antibodies to develop. cdc.gov/flu/vaccines/v…

“Trump’s superpower was his intuitive understanding of what motivated his supporters. Many Republicans privately tell me that he’s lost that feel. Trump now lives, they think, in a gilded bubble, palling around with billionaires, oblivious to—and, even worse, uncaring about—the problems facing so many voters” theatlantic.com/politics/202…

I dug into Texas AG Ken Paxton's history of using his office to benefit Elon Musk, including launching investigations into Musk's enemies.
As it happens, Musk has also poured over $158 million into supporting Paxton's run for senate.

A private prison company offered Minnesota an empty prison for 75 million dollars. The state said no. Then Trump’s administration paid the same company almost 500 million for it.
The prison has sat empty in Appleton, Minnesota since 2010. Last year CoreCivic emailed the state and offered to sell it for 75 million, upgrades included. Minnesota passed. Fifteen months later, Homeland Security bought it for an ICE detention center at 495.6 million.
How could this be? You guessed it. CoreCivic gave half a million dollars to Trump’s inaugural committee. And it still gets paid about 75 million a year to run the place.
Republicans love talking about fraud in Minnesota. JD Vance says his task force is all over it. So where are they on this one? I break it all down in today’s show (link in reply).

3 secretaries of state confirmed to me that they received letters from the Dept of Justice in the last day reminding them to preserve election records (which is already required by law for 22 months) and threatening them with jail time or a fine if they don’t comply. Example:

Musk's most extensive comments on the midterms thus far, but they're not exactly new.
If you've followed Musk long enough, you see the patterns he uses in deploying fear as a existential motivator at his companies and during election cycles.
At SpaceX, he has told workers that their mission is to make human life multiplanetary in case something catastrophic happens to Earth. Similarly, during the 2024 presidential election, he told people that it would be the "last election in America" if people did not vote for Trump.
Democrats controlled the presidency, house and senate for the first two years of Biden's term and did not do any of these things. During the 2022 midterms, Musk urged people to vote Republican because "shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties." Now he's pushing for the continued GOP domination of all branches of gov.

My biggest concern is that if there is a clean sweep by Democrats of the House, Senate and Presidency in 2028, they will:
1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate.
2. Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority.
3. Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority.
This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word.
All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.

-50,000 US troops, 20 Navy ships, two carriers across the region.
-$2–3 Billion USD/month or 67-100 Million USD/day above normal military spending
-Aircraft, warships and crews under mounting strain.
-Some US officials see the situation as untenable without more international help. Coalition efforts have failed.

I’m one of those Washingtonians who saw the low-flying plane and wondered whether it was a terrorist attack or a plane about to crash. Glad it was neither but not a funny stunt.
A bizarre stunt where a U.S. military aircraft conducted an alarmingly low flyover of D.C. for Donald Trump’s Halloween party has backfired spectacularly. thedailybeast.com/trumps-gha…
Q: If the administration has declared war on waste and fraud, can you explain the $420 million overpayment for a prison in Appleton, Minnesota, when the company offered it to the state of Minnesota for $75 million?
