One winter, Mary was found unconscious after missing payments & losing access to heat & hot water in her home. Mary survived, but utility shut-off protection could have saved her the trauma. And it could save countless lives. @PeterKahnMD @TheMessenger themessenger.com/opinion/ext…

Vaccine distribution was generally in proportion to cases at the peak of the outbreak, but that access was unequal across racial groups, with Black and Hispanic individuals having to travel significantly longer for doses.

Drive time is better — 45 percent of Connecticut residents live under 15 minutes from major hospitals and only 6 percent of the population live greater than 60 minutes away. While significantly better than the public transit travel times, access to a car is not always an option.

These travel times can present major barriers to care if not addressed up front with patients and the entire care team! As always, thanks to Dr Stan Mathis/@YalePsych/@YaleMed and @XiaohanYingMD for the collaboration.
