The Conversations That Can Change Your Farm's Future Most farm families don't avoid succession planning because they don't care. They avoid it because the conversations feel uncomfortable. In this new episode of The Impact Farming Show, I sit down with @PeterManness Farm Management Consultant with MNP, to talk about the communication side of farm transition planning—the conversations that need to happen long before the paperwork gets signed. One of Peter's biggest takeaways stuck with me: "The outcome is the planning, not the plan." People change. Families change. Plans change. The families who make progress aren't necessarily the ones with the perfect succession plan—they're the ones willing to start talking. In this episode, we discuss: •Why communication is often the biggest hurdle in farm succession. •Why families avoid difficult conversations. •The biggest succession conversations farm families struggle with. •How an outside advisor can help families talk through difficult topics. •The difference between treating children equally and treating them fairly. •The assumptions parents and the next generation make about each other. •Five simple questions every farm family can use to start the conversation today. If your family has been saying, "We should probably talk about succession someday," this episode gives you a practical place to start. Watch or listen to the NEW episode of The Impact Farming Show. rmmarketer.com/Resources/Res… @TracyMBrunet @TracyMBrunet #FarmSuccession #FarmTransition #FarmBusiness #FarmFamily #SuccessionPlanning

This lawn mower may not look like much to some people, but to me, it represents faith, kindness, and the beginning of a journey I could have never imagined. When I started mowing lawns for FREE in 2015 for the elderly, disabled, single parents , and veterans, I didn’t even own a mower. I would ask the people I was helping if they had one I could use. As more people began reaching out, I knew I needed a mower of my own, but I was in college and didn’t have the money to buy one. I found this mower on Craigslist for $100 and messaged the gentleman asking what was the lowest he would take. Instead of giving me a price, he asked me one simple question: “Do you need a mower?” I explained what I was doing and why I needed it. His response was, “You can have it for free.” When I picked it up, he told me several other people had contacted him wanting to buy it, but for some reason, he chose to respond to me. I don’t believe that was a coincidence. I believe God was already making a way before I could even see where this journey was going. That one act of kindness helped me continue serving people, one lawn at a time. Years later, what started with a young college student, a borrowed mower, and a desire to help others has grown into Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service and a movement that has inspired thousands of kids to serve their own communities. I may not remember that gentleman’s name, but I will never forget what he did for me. His kindness became part of this story. If you’re reading this, sir, thank you. You didn’t just give me a lawn mower—you helped give this mission a chance to grow. Never underestimate the power of helping someone when you have the opportunity. Your one act of kindness could become the beginning of something far greater than you ever imagined. 🙏🏾💚

Finally doing something about 24 Sussex. Good for Carney. Someone finally had the guts to just accept it was time to do something about an obvious problem.

Bailing out various Canadian condo markets is regressive garbage and a slap in the face of every Canadian taxpayer. FFS, let the market clear!

This comes as the Liberal Agriculture Minister announced $300 million in climate funding last year. At the same time, the Liberal government allocated $8 million for ‘gender-just, low-carbon rice in Vietnam’ and $22 million for ‘Beans for Women for Empowerment’ in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is clear the Liberals prioritize political agendas over the scientists doing real work in the field.

This the wheat variety adoption acreage from 2008-22. AAFC accounts for 50% of all wheat varieties released from 2000-23. With minimal private sector wheat development, reducing AAFC's contribute is likely to negatively affect Prairie farm profitability.

This represents the barley varieties grown in the Prairies from 2007-22. Publicly developed varieties represent 72% of total acres. Cutting AAFC's R&D budget will reduce the number of new varieties available to Prairie farmers.

Speaking truth to power
As most know I stay far away from politics on social media. Most of the time its hate fueled propaganda spewed from people who have no idea what they are talking about or what they actually stand for. With that said, social media can be an amazing platform to share fact based information or experiences to respectfully and professionally address or correct misinformation so the public can be properly informed. Below is a video from 2010 in Afghanistan where my Special Forces team was partnered with a NATO Australian team fighting the Taliban on the front lines. I dont have the most experience but I have some with 8 deployments to Afghanistan as a Special Forces Green Beret serving with some amazing NATO partners fighting side by side against a mutual enemy. When I was wounded after stepping on an IED, in the hospital at KAF, there was a Canadian in the bed next to me who had been shot, and in the same room a British soldier who stepped on a landmine. Although these are only my experiences, I have seen first hand our NATO brothers and sisters in arms fighting side by side with us on the front lines. For those who wish to comment, be professional. Many soldiers from around the world gave their lives for freedom and they deserve respect. Be worthy of their sacrifice and be someone who was worth dying for. youtu.be/eODfGEYSyh0?si=UENb…
