My girlfriend caught me watching her best friend’s live video at midnight, and when she asked me why I was still awake, I made the biggest mistake of my life. I was lying in bed with my headphones on, watching her friend answer questions from viewers. She was wearing a silky top, laughing at the comments, and looking directly into the camera. I was so distracted that I didn’t notice my girlfriend had woken up. Then she reached over and pulled one side of my headphones out. “Is that my best friend?” I nearly dropped my phone. “Baby, I can explain.” She looked at the screen, then at me. “Explain what? She’s talking to her followers, and you’re watching like she’s talking directly to you.” I locked my phone. “It’s just a live video.” My girlfriend smiled suspiciously. “Really? Then you won’t mind if I join her live and tell her you’re watching?” I grabbed her wrist gently. “Please don’t do that.” She burst out laughing. “Oh, so now you’re shy?” “I’m not shy.” “Then look me in the eyes and tell me you weren’t enjoying yourself.” I looked at her. She wants you to say hello.” I shook my head. “I’m never watching another live video again.” “Good,” she replied. “Because I have an idea.” I slowly lowered the pillow. “Why do I feel like I’m about to regret hearing this?” She ignored me and started a video call with her friend. The moment the friend answered, my girlfriend pointed the camera at me. “There he is! Your midnight viewer.” Her friend burst out laughing.
