Quiet positions are where many club players waste a lot of time and lack direction. We've learned about forcing moves, solved a bunch of puzzles, but...what's the plan when there are no threats? I'll make a series of tweets on this, and here's the first example. What should White do in this relatively famous exercise? White to play. Answers = logic behind your move, evaluation, and the move/sequence. First correct logical answer = ask me a chess question and I'll post an answer soon! #chesspunks @NealBruceBC Should I make a @chessable course on positional decision making?

Good discussion on the broadcast today. The problem with chess is not that the good moves are hard to find. It’s that the bad moves are easy to find too.

I hope the intensity and beauty of this #chess World Championship will remind people that classical chess is quite often far more watchable and exciting than blitz or rapid chess. A chess boom combined with a lack of classical events does not make sense.

A video recap to @MagnusCarlsen's double victory at the King Salman World Rapid and Blitz Championship 2019. With 11 World Championship titles (4 in classical chess, 4 in blitz, and 3 in rapid), is Magnus Carlsen the best sportsman of the past decade? #rapidblitz #chess

World Champion @MagnusCarlsen and GM Vladislav Kovalev (🇧🇾 2661) go through their game in which the former saved a dead lost position! Magnus maintains his unbeaten streak! and is now undefeated in 94 games, one less than what Mikhail Tal managed in the early 1970s. #iomches – at Newtown, Isle of Man

In his impressive unbeaten streak, Carlsen faced an average rating of 2761. That's like playing 56 games against World #10 Nakamura winning 17 of them and not losing a single one. (Ding Liren had an average opposition rating of 2737 in his 100 game streak.)

World Champion Emanuel Lasker was born on this day, 150 years ago. 🎉📅🎉 Lasker was world chess champion for 27 years, from 1894 to 1921. Another world champion and admirer of Lasker's, Kramnik praised him saying: "I think that Lasker is the discoverer of modern chess."

You have to do A LOT of #chess diagrams without much concern about correct results(#immersion); that may seem arguable and weak-minded,but you must get the understanding of what it’s trying to teach you & not get hung-up on mistakes. The treasure is in the training😉❗ @chess24com – at St Louis, MO
