Luckily, We Have Farms 🇬🇧
Drought has tested British fields this summer. Yields are down, grass is scarce, and prices are feeling it.
But here’s the good news: we still grow our own food.
Those farms mean fresher produce, shorter supply chains, and more control over what ends up in our baskets. When the weather turns extreme, home-grown food keeps more of what we need closer to home.
You can strengthen that foundation every time you shop:
✅ Look for the Red Tractor logo or clear “British” labelling
✅ Support farm shops, farmers’ markets & local veg boxes
✅ Choose seasonal UK produce when it’s available
✅ Waste less — stretch a tighter harvest further
Drought will keep coming. But as long as we have farms — and choose to stand behind them — we keep more of our food secure.
Luckily for us, we do. Let’s make the most of them.

England is home to one of the rarest habitats on Earth.
Chalk streams are crystal-clear rivers formed by water filtered slowly through chalk hills and aquifers.
They stay cool, clean, and remarkably clear, which is why they are so beautiful.
There are only around 200 chalk streams in the world, and most of them are in England.
You’ll find them mainly in southern and eastern England, especially in counties such as Hampshire, Wiltshire, Kent and Norfolk.
Famous examples include the Test, Itchen, Kennet and Lambourn.
They are an extraordinary part of our countryside, rare, fragile, and worth protecting.
Had you seen a chalk stream before?

Serious question for the Water Industry...How do we reduce non-household demand while 1) trying to grow the UK economy (think Gigafactories for EVs, more data centres) and 2) meeting the challenge of net-zero (eg Hydrogen production). Hear more and how..
