UNISON members working a 36¼- hour week at UCLan are actually being paid the same as those working a 35-hour week at other universities.
That's basically working for one and a quarter hours each week for FREE!

UNISON members working a 36¼- hour week at UCLan are actually being paid the same as others working a 35-hour week at other universities. That's basically working for one and a quarter hours each week for FREE. Approximately 40% of Higher education institutions keep their support staff on well over thirty five hours in a working week, for the same pay as others in the sector working a 35- hour week. This is not fair, and it should be changed. Our members work hard all year round and should be fairly paid for the work they do, especially during the biggest cost of living crisis in recent history. Not being paid for that extra one hour and fifteen minutes each week means less food on the table and more of a struggle to pay increasing bills. UNISON is calling for more action on fair and better pay. It's very simple, if you work 36¼ hours each week, you should be paid for all of those 36¼ hours.
