I'm noticing Westerners are continously having lower standards every year and seem to not even notice the declining quality standards of everything around them
I do notice it and when I tell them (IRL or on here) they make me sound jaded or disconnected from reality as if we expect too much
They're literally boiling the frog and most don't notice it
Then we fly out to Switzerland, UAE or East and parts of South East Asia and we realize there's nothing to complain about so it's not us, it's the West
I sense a disturbance in the Force.
we had a significant security incident during evaluation of our models. we are sharing what we have learned so far. thanks to @huggingface for the partnership on this.

the proliferation of LLMs is making the dunning kruger effect more observable
when people with minimal intellectual rigor use LLMs, they read the first sentence of the output and believe it at face value without any nuance. as a result they become less effective as human beings
sadly i know a few guys who got one shot like this already
I have too many great ideas and keep coming up with more
Execution is and always was the bottleneck
Building my own AI OS is showing me I can solve this
Then the only bottleneck is how much extra compute I can afford, and time itself
Much better place
What did they do to Fable? It just keeps choosing not to do things it can easily do and used to do without being asked several times.

YOU’RE MISERABLE BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT FUNMAXXING
HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED BEING YOUR TRUE SELF
HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT INDULGING IN WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY
HAVE YOU TRIED BEING KIND TO SEE THAT ITS POSSIBLE TO SMILE
THIS REFLECTS ON THE OUTPUTS OF YOUR AGENTS BTW
My best, most creative hours are right when I am supposed to go to sleep. I have even completely adjusted my life to match my natural delayed sleep rhythym, and this still occurs.
Weird thought but..
If all the smartest people have data sharing turned off in ai apps
What sort of egregore might we accidentally be creating with that tailend of extremely useful data missing?
Not saying the premise is correct, but something worth considering.
On one hand the AI race is scary
On the other hand this is way more fun and probably net safer for humanity than if this happened in secret somewhere
Not linearly safer, but in net likely better
Also this is the only timeline where I have a chance to contribute positively
I think there is a huge gap in the market for a guy who explains complex Science topics in simple terms but who doesn’t just peddle mainstream junk like String Theory
I have not yet heard one good argument for how LLMs could be conscious. I am open to hearing it. Thus far, it seems like a category error and people lacking a general awareness of metaphysics.
Plausible? Yes. Thus far though, no reason to think so.
It’s the calm before the storm
Let us try to harness the winds to take us higher, and glide to the other side

Ninety-nine percent of people in the world are convinced they are incapable of achieving great things, so they aim for the mediocre.
The level of competition is thus fiercest for “realistic” goals, paradoxically making them the most time- and energy-consuming.
If you are insecure, guess what? The rest of the world is, too.
Do not overestimate the competition and underestimate yourself. You are better than you think.
Unreasonable and unrealistic goals are easier to achieve for yet another reason.
Having an unusually large goal is an adrenaline infusion that provides the endurance to overcome the inevitable trials and tribulations that go along with any goal. Realistic goals, goals restricted to the average ambition level, are uninspiring and will only fuel you through the first or second problem, at which point you throw in the towel.
If the potential payoff is mediocre or average, so is your effort.
The fishing is best where the fewest go, and the collective insecurity of the world makes it easy for people to hit home runs while everyone else is aiming for base hits.
There is just less competition for bigger goals.
