Hinge mastery course currently 40% off with CODE: RECERTIFY @StrCoachNetwork @Physical_Prep @spikesonly
If your hinges are average, your results will be average. Most coaches and athletes know the hip hinge matters. Few truly own it. You see it everywhere: young coaches dreading teaching it, veteran coaches quietly admitting their cues are inconsistent, athletes with “strong” deadlifts who still leak power in sprints, swings, tackles, and takedowns. Hamstrings that look the part on a machine but fail when it counts. Lower backs that complain under real load. Power that never fully expresses. Generic YouTube form checks and “just hinge more” advice don’t fix this. What you actually get; Biomechanics mastery Learn exactly how the hip hinge works — neutral lumbar spine, sacral positioning, posterior chain sequencing — so you never second-guess form again. No conflicting cues. No guesswork. RDL programming that actually works When to treat it as a main lift vs accessory. Real volume, intensity, frequency, and agile periodization strategies for real people with real schedules (travel, competition, busy pros). Inspired by what actually moves the needle at the highest levels. Hinge GPP blueprint 4–12 week plans using light, frequent hinge work (RDL variations, kettlebell swings, etc.) to bulletproof the posterior chain, build movement skill, and increase work capacity without burnout or excessive CNS fatigue. Sport-specific transfer • Golfers: the “hinge + rotate” synergy that drives clubhead speed and consistency (the exact work I do with European Tour and England Golf athletes). • Field athletes & combat sports: how a rock-solid hinge amplifies ground reaction force, power, and resilience in every explosive movement. Progressions for every population Absolute beginners, young athletes, masters, veterans — logical regressions and progressions that work in any gym. Includes the downloadable hinge progression matrix from Module 5. Craft-first philosophy No shortcuts. No fads. Just precision, long-term robustness, and the quiet confidence that comes from truly owning a fundamental pattern. Built on the principles of craft, holism, consistency, and compassion. 0.7 NSCA CEUs upon completion — officially approved for your 2026 accreditation cycle. coach-wayland-collective.cir… Your athletes (and your own body) will feel the difference. Your coaching will level up. And you’ll finally own one of the most important patterns in all of athletic performance.

I started working on a book a while back. It will probably take much longer to finish than expected, which is probably a good thing, as I certainly don’t want to publish a “speed slop” as my friend Carl Valle elegantly calls poorly researched and misleading information🤣

My 2 on 2 off method template is now available on Coach Wayland Collective for subscribers. Lift two days, rest two days and repeat for a month. One of my favourite and very simple methods for building strength.

There are few authors/coaches that I consider an automatic read when they put something out. @Physical_Prep is one of those.

“Individual needs to step from the known to the unknown to bring something useful back.” - @Physical_Prep You have to fail if you want a deep movement bag. The environment has all the information you need to complete the task, just have to go find it.

The pure hip hinge, pushing hips back with soft knees, neutral spine, and maximal posterior chain loading, directly counters common injury mechanisms like poor hamstring eccentric control, lumbar compensation, and inadequate force absorption/transfer. Unlike Nordics (which are more isolated and less transferable), heavy RDLs build architectural adaptations in the hamstrings (longer fascicles, better pennation for force and length-tension), eccentric strength under load, and overall robustness that transfers to sport.

It’s not trendy or cool anymore but my preferred media to communicate my ideas is writing. I feel I better articulate myself than via short form content most coaches use now. 20 years ago this was how we built our knowledge base, Brain Mac, Dan John, T-nation, Elitefts and more.

If you’ve ever felt that most training advice is either too simplistic or needlessly complicated if you’re looking for something more honest, more sustainable, and more grounded in real results you’re in the right place.

In 1983, a BBC interviewer asked Richard Feynman why two magnets push each other apart — and he refused to answer it. What he did instead is the best seven minutes on thinking ever filmed. Bookmark & watch today, no matter what.

Regardless of the model, the future is team coaching talking about periodization, not the support staff fantasizing about their small part. When everyone is working together, that is the utopia.
This is the real periodization.
