The Dark Energy Survey Supernova Program: Slow supernovae show cosmological time dilation out to $z \sim 1$. arxiv.org/abs/2406.05050

The Dark Energy Survey Supernova Program: Slow supernovae show...

We present a precise measurement of cosmological time dilation using the light curves of 1504 type Ia supernovae from the Dark Energy Survey spanning a redshift range $0.1\lesssim z\lesssim 1.2$....

‘The most common response I get when I talk about dark matter is: “isn’t this just something physicists made up to make the math work out?” The answer to that might surprise you: yes! In fact, everything in physics is made up to make the math work out.’ sciencefocus.com/news/everyt…

Yes, everything in physics is completely made up – that’s the whole point - BBC Science Focus...

A physicist's task is to constantly create equations that keep up with our observations of physical phenomena.

Uncompetitive pay and unsustainable workloads are driving teachers away. Resignations now outstrip retirements. All fast tracking will do is speed up a trickle of teachers into profession who then leave. #MoreThanThanks smh.com.au/national/nsw/teac… 1/6

Teachers fast tracked into classrooms with promise to scrap two-year qualification

More than 9000 aspiring teachers have been deterred from entering the profession because of the requirement to undertake a two-year master’s teaching degree, a NSW Productivity Commission report says.

I shall have more to say about the trailblazing, incomparable Nichelle Nichols, who shared the bridge with us as Lt. Uhura of the USS Enterprise, and who passed today at age 89. For today, my heart is heavy, my eyes shining like the stars you now rest among, my dearest friend.
