I'm writing a short guide for students about starting A Level Physics. This will be free to download from my website. I'd love to include some advice from teachers (I'll keep it anonymous). What advice would you have for those about to go into Year 12?

👇 good thread of ideas!
If I were Labour Shadow Ed Sec, these are the policies I would start working on now: 1. End charitable status for independent schools. Tax fees like anything else, having subtracted the per pupil funding in that LA.

Ok, I try to be nice on here, but @Miss_Snuffy assertion that being in work for long hours means you strive for excellence really pisses me off. Teaching is a job. An important job yes, but just a job. My own family are more important than the job, as are my staff's families.

Not surprised tbh after failure to deliver LETTERBOX flowers for 2 days by @YodelOnline have appalling customer service. On the Webchat for over an hour only to be told they can’t help or put me through to speak to someone. Absolutely abysmal.

Ignoring the distraction of the 7am time I agree with this sentiment. Decisions should be carefully thought over but made as quickly as possible. I’ve worked with leaders who take weeks and those who make rapid decisions. I prefer the latter, and the school was more vibrant!
I often see this as an issue in leadership. Leaders take too long to decide. This creates a culture of atrophy where decisions are paralysed In dynamic organisations, decisions are made constantly, carefully, but quickly. I meet with my senior team daily at 7am.

Is it too much to ask for delivery drivers to ring the doorbell before deciding no one was in?

We never stay at Travelodge. Had and heard of too many bad experiences. Had one friend moved around 5 different hotels in one night. We’ve had minor problems with @premierinn on occasion but it’s always been fixed & compensated if there’s inconvenience. Breakfast is better too.
My husband and I stayed at a @TravelodgeUK last weekend. We booked a family room. When we arrived they said they’d overbooked so we were put in a double room with my husband & I having to sleep on the floor. They’re refusing any form of refund, which I’m finding unreasonable 🤔

By minor problems it’s things like the heating is v noisy, the A/C won’t turn off so it’s freezing or music from the lobby can be heard in the room early in the morning (got a free breakfast for that, and they turned it off the next morning). Got free bottle of champagne once.

Anyone else remember the days when “picking up a few bits” from the supermarket didn’t cost £54?

Could we just have proper funding for resources and staff first please? And funding for proper support for children with additional needs? I’m not anti-chess but this isn’t exactly a priority is it?!
