Reading excerpts from Uncle Tom’s Cabin in class. He refused to beat an enslaved woman even though Tom was being offered a “promotion” to overseer. Sambo and Quimbo beat Tom to death for being an upstanding human. The phrase “Uncle Tom” is a misrepresentation of the character.

The culture of education is the continuous and ever increasing shift of responsibility away from the students to placing the preponderance of effort on the professional educator. Students do less and the educators do more.
