On this day in 1961, the US, UK and Belgium assassinated Patrice Lumumba, the first democratically elected leader of the Republic of Congo, because he sought to restore national control over the country's mineral reserves. Remember Lumumba!

New York City's pension funds are considering resuming investments in Israeli government bonds, a move that would channel public money into Israel’s treasury despite the ongoing war in Gaza.
The proposal, backed by the city’s chief financial officer Mark Levine, has put him at odds with Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who supports divestment over Israel’s conduct.
The investment amounts to direct funding for Israeli policies linked to settlement expansion, civilian casualties, and violations of international law.

Michel Nkuka Mboladinga received an offer of $2,000–$4,000 per match to remain in Morocco and serve as an AFCON ambassador, but stated that Patrice Lumumba’s legacy is not something to be exploited for personal gain. Instead, he chose to return to Congo with the national team.

Screaming hoping the last note could reach you. As a foul screech, the sound would begin as worse than nothing. But it is through traveling across space and time that sounds change, and such is the ideal I wish for. For my screams to arrive as melodies

Breaking:
Just in. Photos document the personal belongings that the Palestinian patients and their families were forced to leave behind before they entered Gaza this morning.
Most pf patients, as I mentioned in my post, were deported from Palestinian hospitals in Occupied Jerusalem.
Cruel is an understatement.
A deeply cruel system.
The Israeli authorities have recently deported numerous Palestinian patients from hospitals in occupied Jerusalem. Many of these individuals had been receiving treatment long before October 7.
Because Gaza’s healthcare system was severely limited even before the genocide, many patients, particularly those with cancer, were referred to hospitals in occupied Jerusalem where they could receive the care they needed. Even after initial recovery, these patients require regular follow-up appointments and continued access to medication, services that are simply not available in Gaza.
There is no guarantee that these patients could go back to the hospitals in Jerusalem for follow-up appointments.
As CNN reported last week, while most patients agreed to return to Gaza, some were sent back against their will because no treatment options await them in the devastated enclave.
According to reports today, before the patients were allowed to reenter Gaza this morning, Israeli authorities confiscated some of their personal belongings.
Note: when you read about this in Israeli media, you are told the patients were treated in Israel. No, these were Palestinian hospitals.
