The first refurbished 222 for @LumoTravel has been outshopped from Alstom’s Widnes facility ahead of the Euston-Stirling service launch next month. 222001 is now numbered 222601 as a 6-car unit and the former First Class seats have been replaced with new seating. 📷 Lumo

More 66s to leave the UK: @DBCargoUK has agreed the sale of 25 of its redundant 66s to Romania’s largest private railway company, Grup Feroviar Roman. The first is 66014, already repainted into dark blue livery at Toton depot. All 25 are due will be exported by mid-2028

Today, 22 May, is “225 day” for @LNER and to celebrate its Class 91+Mark 4 fleet 91106 has just been named “Swallow” at Leeds with a nod to the name first carried on 91001. The loco is now working the 12.45 to King’s Cross

Picked up @AndyChard1’s latest “Beaten Track” book from @Platform5Rail over the weekend, and it’s another belter. A great series of books that should grace the bookshelf of every connoisseur of the BR era. Some fascinating pictures and very educational! 10/10

Great to see Stadler’s bi-mode 99002 for @GBRailfreight at a rather wet @InnoTrans in Berlin today. The first loco arrives in the UK in May next year and GB says they are expected to reduce emissions by up to 58% compared to the 66s. Entry into service is expected in Sept ‘25
