EXPOSED: AIT Caught Recycling Old FEC Footage, Journalism in Shambles AIT's claim that the Federal Executive Council recited the old national anthem today is a reckless fabrication. The broadcast featured Dr. Iziaq Salako, who was reassigned from Environment to Health in October 2024, and listed the Ministry of Niger Delta, dissolved that same month. The new anthem officially took effect on May 29, 2024, making this footage at least 18 months old. This isn't a mistake; it's journalistic negligence. Nigerian media continues to embarrass the profession with lazy, unverified content. AIT owes Nigerians a public apology for peddling yesterday's news as today's headline. Isn't this Shameful?

I try to stay away from unnecessary debates but let me offer my own view from a purely technical & economist perspective (for education purposes only) to recent debates that were really unnecessary. When economists says “an economy is now stable”, they usually mean that the 1/10

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE LABOUR LEADERS PRAISE PRESIDENT TINUBU OVER APPROVAL OF N70,000 MINIMUM WAGE AND PROMISE OF REVIEW AFTER THREE YEARS President Bola Tinubu on Thursday in Abuja increased the federal government’s offer on the national minimum wage from N62,000 to N70,000, with an assurance that it will be reviewed after three years, instead of five years. In a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and that of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the Presidential Villa, President Tinubu said he had to intervene in the negotiations, knowing the economic challenges faced by many Nigerians, and the need to provide urgent succour. “I have heard all your presentations. You came here with the intention to get something on behalf of your members. It has been tough globally. And if you review my track record, I have never been found wanting in ameliorating the problems of workers. I belong to the people and to all of you in leadership. Without you, this job is not interesting. “You challenged the thinking faculty of leadership, and we have reviewed the position. I have consulted widely, and when the tripartite committee submitted their reports, I reviewed them again and started to think and rethink. “Last week, I brought the workload to you because we have a timeline. We have a problem, and we recognize that you have a problem too. We are in the same economy. We are in the same country. We may have different rooms, different addresses, and different houses; we are just members of one family that must care for each other. “We must look at the parameters of things. Here, I have a speed limit, and I must pay attention to traffic warnings; slippery when wet, curved roads, and be careful not to have an accident. That is why I went as far as having this meeting today. “We are driving this economy together. Let us look at the tenure of review. Let us agree on that, and affirm three years. Two years is too short. We affirm three years. We will review. “I am going to move from the tripartite committee. I am going to edge a little bit forward, looking at the review that we have done. Yes, no one in the federal establishment should earn less than N70,000. So, we are going to benchmark at N70,000,’’ the President said. President Tinubu explained that renewing the hope of Nigerians extends to providing infrastructure that will improve their livelihoods and create an inclusive economy that all can participate and benefit.

FOREX Crisis: A Look at Peter Obi’s support for currency speculators By Michael Chibuzo  The Labour Party Presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi over the weekend criticised the federal government for clamping down on currency speculators whose activities have contributed to the volatility of the Naira in the foreign exchange market. Mr. Peter Obi in a post on his verified handle on the social media platform X (formerly known as twitter), described the move by the office of the NSA against unscrupulous Bureau De Change (BDC) operators who engage in Naira speculation as an "attack and disruption of their business" and termed it ill-advised. Mr. Peter Obi in an attempt to defend these unscrupulous BDC operators and absolve them of culpability in the foreign exchange market volatility said that the BDCs are not the primary suppliers of forex nor do they create demand and pointed out that they only provide a market to sellers and buyers of foreign currency and therefore should be left alone to operate without any form of regulation in their activities no matter how shaddy. The part of Peter Obi’s post that caught my attention well was where he said, "To think that the BDCs are the cause of the declining value of the Naira is a smack on rational economic thinking.” As expected, Obi also mouthed his consumption to production refrain when he added that the only way to shore up the value of Nigeria's currency is to move the country from consumption to production. A look at Mr. Peter Obi’s opposition to the move by the law enforcement agencies to take firm measures against anyone engaged in foreign exchange market speculation as directed by the National Security Adviser leaves one with no choice other than concluding that Mr. Peter Obi is absolutely in support of the speculatory activities against our national currency by unpatriotic elements including some BDCs. Who knows, Mr. Peter Obi may equally be a currency speculator himself! This is because it is bewildering that a man who sought to be Nigeria's President in the last election and who is still actively seeking to smuggle himself to Aso Rock in 2027 would be displaying such level of irresponsible posturing against the country he aspires to lead one day all in the name of playing opposition. The fact that Obi sees attempts to curb currency speculation as a "smack on rational economic thinking" tells volumes about the kind of atmosphere he wants to create as President. Judging by the foregoing, Peter Obi as president may legalise currency speculation since he does not believe that criminal speculation contributes significantly to a volatile currency or forex market. Peter Obi's simplistic solution to everything seems to be mouthing the mantra, "moving from consumption to production". The questions we need to ask the Labour Party leader is, how do you move from consumption to production when the value of your national currency oscillates wildly in a way that is largely driven by speculation? How does that encourage production? Is it that Mr. Peter Obi does not know that regardless of the dollar supply constraints, if you do not tackle currency speculation, there is no amount of moving from consumption to production or even dollar liquidity that will give you a stable exchange rate regime which is driven by REAL demand and supply. If you analyse the performance of the Naira in the past couple of days, you would realise that the value of the Naira is not really determined by true demand and supply dynamics. The market forces have been distorted thanks to the activities of these speculators. What has been happening is that currency speculators (including many BDCs that Obi is defending) engage in all sorts of manipulation to create an impression of high demand for dollars, which gives them the opportunity to quote any price they want. podiumreporters.com/index.ph… 1/2

Nigeria’s internet speed is extremely slow when compared with Kenya, Ghana, Morocco, South Africa and even Mauritius. It’s therefore imperative that, as the giant of Africa and one of the world’s leading tech-savvy countries, we must invest in critical infrastructures to bridge the gap. That’s where #GICL10000km fiber optics comes in. GICL's fiber optics promises faster speeds, wider reach, & a brighter digital future for Nigeria. This effectively paves the way for 5G & next-generation tech in Nigeria. A connected community is a strong community. Broadband brings people together & fosters collaboration. As promised, the Renewed Hope Cities which was one of TOP TEN POLICIES to look forward to in 2024 is becoming a reality as construction of 3,112 housing units will be flagged off today in Abuja by President @officialABAT. The flag off marks the first phase of the proposed Renewed Hope Cities to be built across the country. Stay tuned!!!
Renewed Hope Cities: This will pave way for affordable and sustainable living for Nigerians and will promote integrated and functional communities in Nigeria. Phase 1 of the project aims to deliver 34,500 housing units in a mix of 1, 2-, and 3-bedroom affordable bungalows in Nigeria’s 30 states. There will also be multi-level flats to cater to low-medium income earners and terrace and detached bungalows and duplexes for the high-income earners in select state capitals. The state capitals include Lagos, Kano, Borno, Nasarawa, Port Harcourt, Enugu, and the FCT. The initiative will be implemented via the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development’s budgetary allocation, @fmbnnigeria, and through Public-Private Partnerships with reputable developers. Beneficiaries can leverage on FMBN to access single mortgage loans payable over 30 years using the FMBN NHF Mortgage loan window, Primary Mortgage Banks, and the mechanism of the @NMRCNG to enable beneficiaries who desire homes that are beyond the range offered by FMBN to access home loans at commercial rates. Off-takers will also be encouraged to own the homes using the FMBN Rent-to-Own housing product which allows contributors to the National Housing Fund (NHF) Scheme to move into a home without equity payment and pay towards ownership over a maximum of 30 years depending on their age. This project will create over 240,000 jobs for Nigerians.
