Flying monkeys are the people recruited, consciously or not, to act as proxies for the narcissistic person after the target has distanced themselves. They carry messages and apply social pressure that the narcissistic person can no longer apply directly. They are often genuinely well-meaning people who have been given a partial version of events and are acting on what they believe is concern.
