Abdul El Sayed disavowed Haley Stevens before he disavowed Hasan “America deserved 9/11” Piker.
And that’s everything you need to know about him. Vote wisely, Michigan.

Not gonna lie. I'd like to see both Paxton and El Sayed lose next week. Regardless of what happens in the big picture, I'd love for both parties to lose big, winnable races because they had no shame.
If he condemned antisemitism and pulled the ad featuring one of the most vile antisemitic people in American politics today, who is also from the far-right, we would absolutely have nothing to say. But here we are.
As usual, the Double Test:
A Republican candidate is running for Senator. Some Republican PAC puts out an ad endorsing him and featuring blatantly racist tropes.
Would you insist that the candidate doesn’t have to say anything because it’s not his ad?
A man drove his car into a synagogue where a preschool session was in session last March and the Democratic nominee issued a 4-minute long video explaining where the assailant was coming from. It took him six months and a primary for him to walk it back.
The degree of raging, brazen Islamophobia in the Michigan Senate campaign outstrips any anti-Semitism there by orders of magnitude. People can try to both-sides this—and, in particular, they may try to pretend otherwise by magnifying the anti-Semitism they see in the guise of opposing it—but the evidence is clear, and deeply disturbing.
If you support Rogers, you’re supporting rabid bigotry—not just in Michigan, but in the White House.

Here’s Hasan days before the 2024 election saying that Kamala and Trump are “one to one the exact same”. Listen to how passionate he was, he believed this to his core and wanted all of his listeners to believe it too
Haley Stevens: Please pull the ad featuring Holocaust denier, Jan 6 lover, conspiracy theorist Tucker Carlson and directly disavow an ad aired in support of you trafficking in antisemitic tropes.
Abdul El-Sayed: Fuck you and fuck everyone who voted for you.
The message couldn’t be clearer: Haley Stevens’ 727,000 voters should “stay away.”

Y’all realize that if you want Israeli Jews to die, the “Jews” component doesn’t just disappear because it’s preceded by Israeli right?
Abdul El-Sayed wants to lose. And he deserves to.
Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed's campaign has asked his former primary opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens, to skip all campaign events in the race's closing days, said a person familiar with the matter. cnn.it/4f1w1E4

If you’re blaming Israel for you not having healthcare, and let’s say the US ends ALL funding to Israel TOMORROW… how long until you have healthcare?
Oh, right…
Let’s be clear about something.
El-Sayed chose to bring Hasan Piker into the Democratic primary for a critical swing-state senate race. He chose to tie himself to and elevate one of the most noxious, bigoted, divisive figures he possibly could. He campaigned with him five times. He spent election night of the primary at an “influencer” pool party with the guy. He set the tone for this entire campaign.
Since then, El-Sayed has been given ample opportunity to disavow Piker, to address the concerns of Jewish Dems, and to bring the party together. He’s rejected almost every single one. More often, he’s dug in and doubled down — as he’s doing now.
Christ, the man can’t even condemn an “it’s Jews making your groceries expensive” ad.
There’s one person and person alone who’s responsible for dividing Democrats and injecting groyper-style noxiousness into Michigan Democratic politics. His name is Abdul El-Sayed.

To be clear, her highly sensible ask was that Abdul condemn a blatantly antisemitic ad. That bar proved too high, and instead he’s lashing (crashing?) out against his primary challenger (willing to support him!) who got 49% of the vote.

US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign is asking Haley Stevens to stay away from all future campaign events in the closing days of the race.
A source tells Politico that his team wants her to stay away “as not to distract from the central issues of the campaign.”

The most cynical part about this whole AES/Stevens thing is that Stevens was trying to help the Democratic campaign but AES shills don’t even realize it, and they certainly don’t realize his gross attitude and adversarial behavior is undermining it. Blind fealty.

I'm one of the 63% of Jewish-Americans opposed to the current Israeli government. The ad is still antisemitic.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Replying to @jonlovett
63% of Jewish-Americans are opposed to the current Israeli government and 61% believe Israel has committed war crimes. So, saying an ad criticizing Israel’s war crimes is somehow against Jews sounds like a dual loyalty trope. It is empirically incorrect and helps spread antisemitism. Very disappointing.

I was shocked this caused such a stir—because I have heard this EXACT rhetoric from Abdul El-Sayed:
Abdul El-Sayed on April 7: "I don't pay taxes so another country gets a tank or a bomb. I pay my taxes so our kids get schools and healthcare."
This was at a rally where Hasan Piker also said this: "every single dollar that is spent on a bomb is stolen from each and every one of you."
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.
