Nevada employers added 1,300 jobs in September, lifting total nonfarm employment to a record 1,620,200, while the unemployment rate declined to 4.7% for the fifth consecutive month, its lowest level since February 2020.
“My administration is setting the standard for economic growth and opportunity, with more Nevadans working than ever before and unemployment continuing to fall,” Governor Joe Lombardo said.

President Trump announced Monday on Truth Social that anyone reporting voter fraud in elections will be paid $1 million upon an arrest and conviction. In Nevada, federal prosecutors this week charged a noncitizen with illegally voting in the 2024 election.

Las Vegas has put up digital signs along the @LVStrip reminding tourists that tipping costumed performers is not required. The campaign follows a Sept. 30 brawl outside @PHVegas in which showgirl impersonators allegedly attacked two visitors after they paid a $20 tip and the performers demanded between $60 and $180 more for photos. One performer allegedly struck a visitor with a high-heeled boot. Two performers were arrested on battery charges. The signs, launched by @ClarkCountyNV, also advise visitors to contact police if they feel harassed.

A Census Bureau analysis shows sharp differences in how states raise tax revenue. Property taxes lead in about half the states, while Nevada ranks fifth nationwide for dependence on general sales taxes at 44.8% of combined state and local collections. Like Florida and Texas, the state has no broad income tax and draws heavily from sales and property taxes instead.

At a rally in Georgia, President Trump clarified that his proposed $5,000 payment would go to each eligible person, not each household, so a married couple could receive $10,000. He said the payments would follow if Republicans keep control of Congress on Nov. 3. Congress has not yet passed legislation for them.
