Declining interest in IVF and egg freezing in this survey may largely reflect declining interest in having children at all. Respondents are also far less interested in adoption. Unfortunately, the wording of the question about wanting children changed. In 2017, 80% of singles under 40 said it was important to find a partner who wanted children; by 2021, that was 61%. In 2026, just 38% of singles aged 18–49 say they want children.
Interest in IVF + egg freezing is tanking: "“From 2017 to this year, the share of respondents who said they would be willing to consider IVF fell by more than half, from 44 to 18 percent. Openness to egg freezing dropped from 33 to 17 percent.” 44 👉 18! theatlantic.com/family/2026/…

Men generally find it more difficult than women to retain intimate partners. Evolutionary theorizing indicates that people vary considerably in their capacity to retain intimate partners, and part of this variation may contribute to singlehood. In a sample of 2296 participants from Greek, Russian, and Ukrainian cultural contexts, approximately one in four participants indicated a poor capacity to retain mates. This limited capacity was associated with an increased likelihood of being involuntarily single, voluntarily single, or between-relationships single. It was also linked to spending more years as single and fewer years in an intimate relationship. Across all three cultural settings, men reported lower mate-retention capacity than women. One possible explanation is that men are, on average, physically stronger than women, providing them an advantage in retaining partners through physical control or intimidation in ancestral environments. While such strategies may have been effective in societies with weak protection of individual rights, they are detrimental in contemporary post-industrial societies where violent or coercive behavior is socially unacceptable. Beyond physical control, men may also have retained partners through resource provision and the financial dependence it created. In many contemporary societies, women's greater economic independence weakens this avenue. We identified several traits that were associated with relationship status through their association with mate-retention capacity. The most substantial indirect effects were found for “insecure and facing psychological issues,” “bad in sex,” and “social circle issues.” We also observed significant direct effects for “work over relationship” and “poor personality traits.” Notably, the latter factor was unexpectedly associated with reduced odds of being single. Individuals with higher physical attractiveness may have greater retention capacity, since their partners face more tempting alternatives and are correspondingly less inclined to leave, and individuals who command more resources may be better positioned to handle external threats to the relationship, such as a financial crisis.

One of evolutionary psychology's curious findings is that, when a man is seen with a woman, he's rated more attractive by women. Conversely, when a woman is seen with a man, men don't find her more attractive.

Democratic women of all ages are far more likely than Republican women to blame men for the problems they face in American society. But even among Democratic women, those age 18 to 29 believe this at much higher rates.

The Great Feminization of Truth Man discovered and used the scientific process to observe and uncover fundamental truths about the universe we inhabit. The Great Feminization has inverted this field, with many “scientists” now placing more importance on social equity, rather than truth. In effect, many domains of science no longer seek to understand how the world works and instead try to reshape the world according to the “scientists’” political ideals. A study titled Taboos and Self-Censorship Among U.S. Psychology Professors asked professors whether they prioritized scientific truth or social equity goals when the two appear to conflict. 66.4% of male professors chose truth, compared to 43% of female professors — a 23.4-point gap. This is not people being mistaken. Rather, it’s people admitting they will openly dispense with truth in favour of ideology. Let's do some simple math. The field of psychology faculty today is 56% women and 44% men. Based on the figures from the study, this means a reasonable estimate of the total share of professors ranking truth first would be 53.3%. Women account for roughly 71-75% of newly awarded psychology doctorates. The value of truth will continue to diminish so long as institutions prioritize the admission of women into education and career positions. In fact, once the field reaches 73% women — which it presumably will, mirroring doctorates — only 49.3 per 100 psychologists will rank truth first. Now consider this in its entirety. As we artificially nudge women into scientific and academic institutions with affirmative action policies (DEI), research, data, and truth are ignored or shunned when they don’t align with political goals. Then “The Science” informs education, medicine, HR, therapy, media, and every other industry concerned with human behaviour. This is even more disastrous when you take into account psychology replacing spiritual and religious practices. These aren’t meaningless white papers. They are upstream from political legislation, psychological diagnosis, corporate culture mandates, pharmaceutical prescriptions, and all of the psychobabble Instagram advice that is so socially destructive. We must recognize that truth is not losing to lies. It’s that our institutions — as they become feminized — slowly stop valuing truth itself.

Researchers in Newfoundland took blood from 34 couples at four points around a birth and found the men's hormones moving in step with the women's. Prolactin and cortisol both climbed in the weeks before delivery. Sex steroids fell afterward, testosterone in the men, oestradiol in the women. Then they ran a test. Couples were exposed to recordings, images and smells of newborn infants, and the men who reacted most strongly turned out to be the ones with the highest prolactin and the sharpest drop in testosterone. Those same men reported more pregnancy symptoms of their own, which is where the hormone data meets the folklore. Couvade has a long paper trail. An anthropologist named it in 1865, from the French for brooding or hatching, and the list of symptoms has stayed consistent since: nausea, weight gain, fatigue, backache, food cravings, toothache, and occasionally something resembling labour pain. Symptoms appear in the first trimester, ease in the second, return in the third, and stop at delivery. Prevalence estimates run from 11 percent to 97 percent, which tells you the measurement is a mess. Men underreport it and doctors rarely ask. Nobody has established which way the causation points. Whether the hormones produce the symptoms, or close involvement in a pregnancy produces both, is open, and Storey's team said as much. Men with higher prolactin or lower testosterone also held a doll longer in the lab and responded more to the infant cues. Whatever this is, it arrives attached to behaviour. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Is intelligence found attractive in initial interactions? Driebe et al. (2021) conducted two studies: one in which 88 men were filmed performing tasks and rated by 179 women, and the other in which 763 people went on 763 real 3-minute speed dates. Across both studies, measured intelligence did not increase sexual mate appeal, despite raters detecting measured intelligence with above-chance accuracy (r = .1- .3). Perceived intelligence, by contrast, predicted higher appeal in both studies, as did perceived funniness (both b ≈ .3). Measured intelligence showed no meaningful relationship with how funny someone was perceived to be, in either study. Men’s physical attractiveness was the main predictor of sexual mate appeal. Results suggest that intelligence is not important for initial attraction and thus not a sexually attractive indicator of genetic quality, but rather preferred during later stages of long-term relationship formation, probably due to its accompanying direct benefits.
