A lack of flexibility or adventurousness is a hallmark symptom of distress, dysfunction, and even legitimate psychological problems.
When, for example, children will only eat certain foods (and will never try any others), or when people develop intensely ritualized ways of life (from which they can never deviate or else they crumble) -- such people have developed an "insecure attachment" to reality itself.
They need repetition and homogeneity as a kind of comfort; and whatever comfort they derive from it is a kind of surrogate for some essential thing they are lacking, or never received to begin with.
You see this in so many poorly-formed children and teenagers especially. And I often see it in myself when I am doing my worst; I always know things are improving for me when I try something new, take a risk, do something out of the ordinary, etc.
It's a small observation, but important nonetheless.
When smartphones first rolled out, I didn't feel the allure of internet access at all times and stuck with the flip phone. Eventually they did make it more difficult (ticketmaster only issues tickets by smartphone app, etc) so I have to borrow my wife's phone occasionally.

Always share your process.
I love seeing how you throw your time away making something so ugly.
Here is a picture of @ttiimmees 's maternal great granduncle Sergei!
Sergei Eisenstein posing with a giant cactus in Mexico around 1930 or 1931...
In early 1930s, Sergei Eisenstein found himself far from Moscow, wandering the landscapes of Mexico during one of the most turbulent stretches of his career.
Eisenstein had already revolutionized cinema with films like Battleship Potemkin, pioneering montage theory, which argued that meaning in film is created through the collision of images rather than continuous narrative. By 1930–31, he was in Mexico working on an ambitious, independently funded project later known as ¡Que Viva México!, a visual exploration of history, ritual, and class rather than a conventional film.
The production was chaotic. Political pressure from the Soviet Union, financial disputes with American backers, and Eisenstein’s own perfectionism stalled completion. He shot hundreds of thousands of feet of film, but never assembled the final cut himself. The footage was later edited by others, fragmenting his original vision.
Mexico deeply influenced Eisenstein’s thinking. He saw its ancient monuments, religious symbolism, and landscapes as living cinema, forms carved by time, not scripts.
Eisenstein carried sketchbooks everywhere, producing thousands of drawings; he often visualized films first as graphic art, treating cinema as moving architecture rather than storytelling alone.

Let's just call what this "harm reduction" thing what it is:
It's a genocide.
I lived on the street for 8 years. Hitchhiked all over the US, slept in big sprawling bum camps all over, including Seattle.
State agencies hand out paraphernalia and money to anyone who wants them. Camping is decriminalized. "Quality of life" measures are de-emphasized. Hard drugs are de-facto legal. I even suspect that some of the members of local and state governments responsible for these disastrous policies may be in cahoots with major drug traffickers.
The unstated goal appears to be to create dense "zones" where society's undesirables can go to commit mass suicide with these drugs. It's not just the mentally ill, it's also veterans, dissidents, and large contingents of society's strongest and most maladjusted individuals; many of whom would have, without the drugs, been political rabble-rousers of a most inconvenient type.
An army of "true believer" do-gooder liberal social worker types hand out the needles to them all with a smile. They dole out cash benefits knowing that they'll be spent on drugs, and knowing that women will prostitute themselves for those cash and EBT cards. They read whatever far-left sociology crap they've got to read to convince themselves that they're doing something genuinely benevolent.
Ten years ago I knew tons of "crust punk" traveling types for whom the phrase "going to San Francisco" was a euphemism for killing themselves. Because everyone knew you could go to SF, get huge cash benefits, free needles, cheap drugs, legal camping, never get arrested for literally anything -- and you could just slip into addiction until you finally ODed.
It wasn't a joke. Many people I knew and had met actually went there and did exactly that, and are now dead.
Those pushing this "harm reduction" garbage are culpable in their deaths. Those who rabidly work to defend the "harm reduction" infrastructure, and who persecute those who call it out, go against it, or interrupt it are also culpable.
Those at the top know exactly what they are doing, it is deliberate, and it is a eugenics program designed to cull the most undesirable, problematic contingent of American society. Many of them also profit handsomely, both in dollars and in votes. As I said, I think many of them are also cartel-connected, China-connected, etc.
Turns out that old-fashioned "law and order" policing is actually BENEVOLENT and MERCIFUL to a great majority of addicts, mentally ill, chronically homeless, and so on. Saying "here's a cash card and free needles" is actually the cruelest, most evil thing you could do for them, and shame on the progressive do-gooders who act naive about this and think otherwise.
State of Washington is investigating We Heart Seattle for picking up the needles and fentanyl foil they hand out.
For six years we’ve removed hundreds of thousands of pieces of used drug paraphernalia from Seattle parks, greenbelts, and neighborhoods, the exact litter created by government-funded distribution programs.
Now L&I is investigating us for “improperly” collecting the same needles and foil that officials freely distribute and then leave for communities to deal with. This bureaucratic overreach will drain time and resources meant for cleanups and outreach.
If you believe this is hypocritical and want the work to continue, support us today: weheartseattle.org
We pick up what they drop. Don’t let them stop us.
