There's so much change happening at present. It's easy to feel powerless & overwhelmed. That's why I have gone back to sharing the classic Stephen Covey "circle of control" model with many of the teams I work with. There are lots of big changes happening that are in our "circle of concern" & we don't have the power to do much about them. But we can still make a significant difference in the world in our "circle of control" & "circle of influence". Lets put our energies into what we can control & influence.

Navigating Impostor Syndrome in OT🌟
Concerned about your abilities? That's often proof of your dedication! It's a common feeling, but doesn't define you. Remember: OT is a journey of continuous learning & growth. Embrace self-doubt, seek mentorship, & cherish every success! 💪

Appealing to Australians to consider the impact of a "No" vote on the mental health of First Nations people & indeed the mental health & well being of the whole population. To say nothing about our collective sense of unity, cohesion & self respect, plus respect among all nations

Do you know about Autistic burnout?
Autistic burnout results from chronic life stress & a mismatch of expectations/abilities without adequate support. It’s characterised by pervasive, long-term (typically 3+ months) exhaustion, loss of function, & reduced tolerance to stimulus.

It is the first day of #PrideMonth! It is critical that #OTPs know how to support #LGBTQ+ clients with evidence-based care & know how to advocate for LQBTQ+ equity in #OT

“we need to stop assuming all university students have wealthy parents who can fund their studies”. Not only are students unpaid for fair work, they also accrue debt for enrolling in placement courses! #UniversityAccord
The financial burden of work placements on students can be crippling, a new survey has found.
Students have to travel, potentially pay for parking + wear professional clothing – which immediately leaves them out-of-pocket, writes Christine Morley (@QUT). bit.ly/3IXru5V

Do you have a secret belief about mental health that, for whatever reason, you never say publicly?
Mine is: I'm quite a fan of placebo.

The Census must reflect the diversity of our nation by properly including LGBTI people in the statistical data it collects and analyses. Reliable data means no one gets left behind when planning our healthcare and social services programs.

This is #occupationaltherapy. A 100+ yr, evidencebased regulated health profession asks this question every time, every day. It’s in our DNA. Y’all acting like we don’t exist & social prescribing is new, quite disrespectful. OT part of solution- learn more @CAOT_ACE #OT365
Doctors are slammed with non-medical cases. What if treatment shifts focus from, 'What's the matter with you?' to 'What matters to you?' Some say social prescribing could ease the burden. cbc.ca/news/canada/social-pr… via @cbcnews #sdoh

I ❤️ OTs! The best allied health field is trending! 🧠
I literally refer almost every child, adolescent, and adult client I see for #OccupationalTherapy for #sensory processing, fine motor skills, adaptive functioning, driver’s rehabilitation, visual-motor integration, or higher order #praxis.
Sensory “diets” can be exceptionally helpful for Autistic and ND persons. In fact, I recommend it for the whole ND family. #Neurodivergent #Autistic
