Oh hey! I just got a text message from the "JD Vance" from an unknown number! Apparently, he needs me to chip in a few dollars. Wants me to click on a link in the text. Hmmm.... I don't think it's really him.... Trust issues.
After our little group's discussion around self-defense in the Austin area - this is a bit of good news. Hope they leave Daniel alone now... Garza can't even do a good job of abusing his prosecutorial powers. Fail. At least this time it is a fail in the right direction. Congratulations Daniel.
An Austin/Travis County Jury has voted to not convict Daniel Perry. This man was the victim of violence by BLM protesters and protected himself but the Progressive Dipshit Prosecutors tried to jail him and failed. Congrats to attorney @DouglasOConnell for delivering justice.
Hey @L6_Underground ! Thanks! I sent a note that my "nutsack adapter" had come apart (3d print issue) but didn't expect a nice replacement and a cool L6 slap. Appreciate the customer service. Happy customer.
All my fellow nerds, security enjoyers see the NSA-CISA alert yesterday morning? Glasswing/Mythos and other open source AI's are radically accelerating vulnerability discovery and exploitation. Gonna be an interesting year...
In StopTheBleed we discuss the classic "Tampons for bullet injuries" thing where a TQ won't work. Ideally, what we are doing with wound packing is to extend mechanical compression into the wound, not just cover the hole. Compressed gauze or hemostatic gauze is the way to go. Get volume stuffed in there, then compress hard on top of that to transfer the pressure to the internal bleeder. Advanced medics will have other things available but for the lay person trying to keep a person alive so higher level care can just get there - this is the way...
Fun scenario to play with today: Tuesday, 2:30 PM. You're working from home in Round Rock when your doorbell camera shows a man grabbing the package off your porch and walking toward a car at the curb. It's a $300 order. You're armed and could reach the front door in seconds. Is this a lawful AND moral time for a gun, or does it call for a lesser option like staying inside, getting the license plate on video, and calling 911?
One possible consideration: Texas PC 9.41 allows reasonable non-deadly force to protect property. PC 9.42 allows deadly force to prevent theft only during the nighttime, among other conditions, so a daytime package theft doesn't qualify. How do we think that would play out in our political area in greater Austin?

Yep.
Make your "comfort distance" a little further than normal.
Trust your instincts. If something feels funky, give it a minute, look a little closer.
Maybe travel a little heavier than you normally do. Carry the full-sized gun instead of the compact. Another extra mag. IFAK. You probably don't need to dial it up to 11, but moving from 7 to 8.5 might not be a bad idea.
Halloween is on a Saturday this year, so take advantage. Go scout your route in the daylight.
Parents... I know you are gonna have that thing on ya...
Trick-or-treating armed? Your job is the kids, not the candy. Stay at the curb side of the group, keep your strong hand free, set a meet-up spot, and have a flashlight on you. Masks make it harder to read faces, so watch vehicles, hands, eyes, distance and direction. Kids go home safe.
If you have not early voted yet, go do it. If you are disappointed, cool. If you can’t vote FOR a candidate, cool. Decide what you will vote against and get it done. Give and don’t vote, clearly your choice but don’t complain later. Don’t confuse “better than” for perfect. Adulting.
While every range day is a good day. Sometimes ya need to know what time it is. And it’s time for smoked meats! Beautiful weather for it. @WassonWatch
Look at that Lume in the shade making up for the sun not doing its thing through the oak leaves. Bright AF.
