A zero-coupon bond is a simple financial instrument. Instead of paying interest over time, it's sold at a discount and redeemed at its full value when it matures.
For example:
Buy for $0.95 today → Redeem for $1 at maturity.
The $5 difference is your return.
This is why Principal Tokens (PT) are often compared to zero-coupon bonds. Since each PT can be redeemed for one unit of the underlying asset at maturity, it typically trades below that value beforehand allowing users to lock in a predictable return.
Yield has evolved over the past decade.
It all started with simple savings accounts. Then came on-chain lending.
Then yield farming emerged. Then yield tokenization with PT & YT.

Praxis Build Update
Another week of infrastructure improvements as we prepare for public testnet.
Progress this week:
- Optimized the event resolver, significantly reducing the number of RPC requests required.
- Migrated to a new contract deployment system, streamlining deployments across @Base Mainnet and Sepolia.
- Simplified random number generation for the Praxis Yield Game. A single contract now handles interactions with Chainlink, making the architecture cleaner and easier to maintain.
- Upgraded the event engine subscription system. It now performs frequent scans of recent events while periodically running a full synchronization, ensuring reliable event detection without overloading endpoints.
Every change brings us one step closer to launch!
