There is a deep irony to believing “children can consent” protects children from pedophilia
Children get groomed into thinking that sort of thing is okay, and your ideas could reinforce that by treating them like they’re capable of consent.
Children cannot trust their instincts.
Is there any kind of evidence that pushing consent ethics at every level for children prevents abuse?
Even if we accept that dubious premise, what about other effects? Like being socially stunted, unable to express their feelings or affection?
Putti were a mistake in art. I don’t care if they’re “charming”, they’re not a proper depiction of angels. Especially given their origins in Greek pagan erotic symbolism.
While their damage isn’t comparable to Dawkins, they’re not good and we should discourage their use.

Opposing unjust laws does not require opposing judicial punishment.
A question for the pro-death penalty side:
In 2010, a Catholic woman from a village in Pakistan was sentenced to death after a squabble with her Muslim neighbors over a cup of water. They claimed she slandered Mohammed i.e. committed the act of blasphemy.
The state mandated she be given the death penalty. Pope Benedict stepped in and called for her release. She spent 8 years in jail but was eventually released and fled the country in 2018.
Question: Should the Pope have remained silent and not intervened with the affairs of Pakistan and their use of the death penalty?

What I’ve noticed is that lapsed Catholics become Protestant and fervant Protestants become Catholic.
It’s not a great exodus of numbers, but of quality.
