News: AHS & the Alberta gov. are on the clock to produce records about whether they told ex-AHS CEO Athana Mentzelopoulos she was at risk of being fired for poor performance. AM says she was axed for probing dodgy contracts, gov says she was bad at her job edmontonjournal.com/news/pol…

On Oct 19 Albertans voted NO on provinces opting out of federal programs. 57% (CBC). NINE DAYS LATER CBC reports the government WILL PRESS AHEAD With its plan to opt out of the federal dental and drug programs anyway. They've done this before. #RESIGNSMITH #DISMANTLETHEUCP 🧵

WOW! The Rath texts are real. Smith colluded with the separatists. Confirmed by Dani in the legislature today. And while she tried to spin them as just answering questions, she also makes it clear the texts weren't meant for Lukaszuk. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Some pretty wild takeaways from today's electoral boundaries committee meeting: Lethbridge would be split into FOUR ridings instead of its current two urban ones. Three would combine city neighbourhoods with surrounding rural areas. Three urban-rural hybrid ridings are proposed along Calgary's northwest and western edges. Springbank gets split up. Kathleen Ganley questioned why the panel was citing GOLF COURSES to justify its boundaries. Okotoks and Diamond Valley would be split apart, with Diamond Valley paired with Banff. The panel's dissenting members say public submissions overwhelmingly favoured keeping them together. Ganley says Calgary and Edmonton ridings would average 7,000 more residents per MLA than ridings outside those cities. That's a 14 percent difference. The NDP wanted to put its concerns about the maps on the record. UCP MLAs voted 3–2 to end the committee's review before those motions could even be considered. The NDP also wanted taxpayers to know how much the panel and its outside consultants were paid. UCP MLAs voted that down too. Ganley says the panel chair gets an extra $5,000/month on top of regular pay. The UCP says the maps should be debated in the Legislature once they're public. The NDP wanted the committee to scrutinize them now. Meanwhile, Albertans still haven't seen the maps. The report is due November 2. #ableg #abpoli

Oh, look! Is Abigail Schimke, the UCP’s Central Alberta Director, the same Abby Schimke who works in Administration at Lighthouse Christian Academy — the very school that was just awarded $4 million by the Government of Alberta? 🤔

Oh fun! Alberta is spending 25.8 million to build new school buildings for schools that are either religious or religious adjacent… Including one is Sylvan lake. Whose student body is made up of almost 3/4 home schooled kids it supports the home schooling of.

The government's own $2 million review said AHS spends less on management than other provinces. So the government fired the AHS board. Fired it again. Split AHS into four agencies. Split the Health Minister's job into four. Yes, I got lost there too. My goodness. Here's what happened. In order. With the quotes. AHS: FROM THE BEGINNING, Part C

Danielle Smith says that schools like the one in her constituency that flies multiple international flags inside the school will be able to get an exemption. Want to guess what’s not in the new regulations? An exemption process. Or even the word “exemption”.

“Scapegoating non-permanent residents is not going to lower the cost of living. That’s not going to fix our classrooms. They keep essential services open. In many cases, they are frontline workers. When certain people ultimately point fingers at Elections Alberta for the delay and missteps tonight, don't forget who underfunded and hampered EA's requests for help to make sure this would run more smoothly.
