But the big piece of it is that he’s in-zone. Reid used to dot in pens and lose it in-game, but now he’s throwing the hardest he ever has while filling up the zone and competing. ⚡

The biggest unlock was treating the mound like the outfield. On lower-intent days, Reid threw like he was turning double plays, letting his natural athleticism take over instead of forcing things.
Once the arm became one continuous motion, everything clicked. His pulldowns climbed from 86-87 to 93-94 mph, and in his first college Live ABs as a true freshman at Whittier College, he sat 85-88 and topped out at 89. 🔥

The goals for his programming were to clean up direction, then shorten the arm action and make it more elbow-driven.
Along the way, his arm started stalling out mid-throw, so we brought in athletic work to get it flowing again.

Reid started training with Tread at the end of his junior year of high school. As a two-way player, his throw looked electric from the outfield, but the second he got on the mound, the numbers dropped.
His initial assessment revealed three issues:
❌ A cross-body lower half pulling him off line
❌ A hand-driven arm action
❌ A spinny delivery that never gained ground toward the target
Reid had strong stretches followed by valleys. He barely pitched his senior year of high school. But he kept showing up.

Sean was already an elite pitchability guy as you can see by the 101 Ks to 36 BBs in 76 IP. He did this at 88-90 mph. Now, Sean is 91-94 mph (as of last week in summer games). He's already seeing the benefits of the added velo in his summer outings:
