Reer Boorama. Way reeban tahay in Barakacayaasha Oromada ah ee degan dhulka Soomaalida loo ciqaabo khalad ay geysteen dad kale oo Oromo ahi. "Caabay tacaal". Waa in degdeg ay dadka waxgaradka ah ee Reer Boorama arrintaas uga bixiyaan xaal.

To my Somali-American brothers and sisters. I find the advice in this clip very useful. Your future is the US is bright. Do not be discouraged by the current politically motivated attacks on your dignity. Besides, it is clear that you have the support of your neighbors and most of your other follow Americans. Check out Beyond The Narrative✅'s video! #TikTok vt.tiktok.com/ZSgbB7tfm/

Dear beautiful and kind Faiza, Do not despair. Your America—the one that welcomed you and that you love—is still there. You and your country are going through a difficult but temporary time. It will pass. Look at how the people of Minnesota and the rest of the United States supported #SomaliAmericans when they were down. This is a blip, not an equilibrium. I am Canadian, and I love my life. But having the United States as a neighbor is one of the reasons why #Canada is such a great place to live, especially for people like me who benefited from an American education. Yes, nowadays, whenever I visit the United States, I go through a “secondary” interview because my Canadian passport shows that I was born in Somalia. But I never worry. I just budget a little more time at the airport. That, too, will pass. Many people around the world are also rooting for a happier and safer USA. We need the United States. It has led well in difficult times, and it still has the capacity to lead. Be proud of your Somali-American identity.
Don’t make fun of my photo! 😂 BUT, what happened to the #America that loved my curly hair and colorful clothes? Me in Washington, D.C., in the mid-90s. I fled war and came to America for a better life. We pursued education, worked hard, and contributed. Why the hate? What happened to the America I knew? America is a melting pot. Why can’t we coexist? #American #Somali #MeltingPot #ITOOMatter

Saaxiibayaal. Beryahanba dacwooyin baan wadaye, maantana dacwad kale ayaa qabaa. Waxa aan ka dacwoonayaa da' ama gabow. Hore ayaa loo yidhi "haddii wadku ku daayo muddo, gabow baan ku deyneyn." Bal eega faraqa u dhaxeeya labada dawir ee hoose. Sodon iyo six sano ka hor, markii dawladdii Soomaaliyeed ee Siyaad Barre ay burburtay, isma aan lahayn da'daas baan gaadhi aniguna oo aan arag wadankii oo midoobay oo horumaray. Waxa aan dhawaan ka soo noqday safar aan ku tegey Rwanda oo iyaguna dagaal sokeeye dhexmaray 1990nadii Way dhismeen, inaguna weli waan mormaynaa. Waa ka masayray horumarka ay gaadheen. Waxa aan ka baqayaa in aan dhawaan idhaahdo "aan ooyee albaabka ii xidha." Saaxiibkay iyo Ina adeerkay Dr Abiib. Qalinjoojin shurrudi ku xidhan tahay baad samaysay. Waana sidii aan filayey. Dhinacayga cawridii, habaarkii, iyo tartankii siyaasadda, intaba waan la noqday. Qalinjoojin buuxda ayaan samaynayaa. Tan baa u dambaynaysa wax Bangiga khuseeya oo aan soo qoro. Kaftanka ka sokow, saaxiib, xaq baad u leedahay in aad su'aalo ka keento sida Boodhka iyo maamulku u wadaan hawlaha Bangiga Dhexe. Jawaabahoodana ama qoraalada bangiga ayaad ka heli, ama toos baabad u weydiin kartaa xafiiska ay khusayso.
JAWAABTII PROF. HUSSEIN WARSAME Saaxiibkay amba inaadeer Xuseen Warsame, dacwaddaadii waan arkay. Saaxiibtinimadeenna iyo tolnimadeennaba waan xusuustaa; laakiin weli ma arag qodob dhigaya in saaxiibka iyo qofka aad isku tolka tihiin laga dhaafo su’aalaha ku saabsan xisaabaadka CBS! 😂 Anigu Boodhka kaama eryin. Qalinkaygu su’aalo ayuu qoraa; xil ka qaadis ma saxeexo. Haddii ay 20 bilood kuu hadheen, soo bandhig warqadda magacaabistaada ama tan muddada xilka laguugu kordhiyey. Arrintaas dukumenti ayaa kala caddaynaya; kaftan laguma xallin karo. Waxaase iga yaabiyey inaad faahfaahisay dacwadda aad iga qabto, halka su’aashii Audit Report CBS 2023 ay weli jawaabteeda sugayo. Wada hadalkeennii waxaad iigu sheegtay inaadan akhrin Audit Report CBS 2023, haddana waxaad xaqiijisay inuu saxeexa ku yaallaa yahay kaagi oo aad saxeexday adigoo akhriyin. Saaxiib, saxeexaagu ma akhriska ayuu ka horreeyey? Bal taas noo sharax. Qiimaha tababarka Kigali waxaa lagu muujin karaa kharashkiisa, wixii laga bartay iyo faa’iidada uu CBS u leeyahay. Sawirrada iyo kaftanka ka sokow, xogtaasna dadweynaha la wadaaga. Cawri iyo habaarna waad soo hadal qaaday. Waxaan rajaynayaa inaanay noqon habka cusub ee Boodhku uga jawaabo su’aalaha xisaabaadka! Odayaasha iyo walaalahay ILAGA WEYN AAD IGU DACWAYSEEN waan DHAGAYSTAA; SIDOO KALE jawaabaha CBS-na adiga iyo Boodhka ayaan idinka sugayaa. Haddii aad siyaasadda soo gashana, soo DHOWOW!!!. Laakiin haddii su’aalihii CBS ay kaa daba yimaaddaan, ha odhan: “Abiib ololihii ayuu iga dhex bilaabay!” 😂 Qalinka waan dhigaa marka aan qoraalka dhammeeyo; su’aalaha aan weli laga jawaabinse way sii taagnaanayaan. Wixii aan ku qaldamay caddeyn igu sax, wixii aan ku weydiiyeyna caddeyn iigu jawaab. Saaxiibtinimadeennu waa 30 sano. Lacagta dadweynahana IN LA BAADHO MEESHA AY MARTEY MA KALA LAHA saaxiibtinimo iyo tolnimo EE FADLAN HA KU XOQAN CARD saaxiibtinimo iyo tolnimo.

Saaxiibayaal, maanta waxa aan dacwad u qabaa ninkii aan 30ka sano saaxiibka ahayn, tolkana aan ahayn ee Dr Abib oo aan ku ogahay karti badan. Dr Abib, baryahaaba waxa uu ku qaadqaadayey Bangiga Dhexe ee #Somalia oo aan "Board"kiisa ku jiro. Tweetka hoose waxa aan maanta dacwadda weyn uga qabaa, Boodhkiiba wuu iga caydhiyey. Isaga oo sababaynaya in tababarka nooga socday Kigali aanu qiima lahayn, ayaa waxa uu yidhi "waxa u hadhay xubinimadoodii afar bilood." Aniguna waxa aan islahaa ugu yaraan 20 blood baa kuu dhiman. Malaha wax buu ogyahay oo seef baa igu soo socota. Waxa aad iga gaadhsiisaan Dr Abiib in uu aniga iyo Boodhkaba noo tudho. Haddii kale wuu ogyahay in jilibka aan ka ahay reerka aan ka wada tirsanahay uu cawri iyo habaarba ku caam yahay. Ta kale, haddii uu mar kasta naga hadlo, waan caam baxaynaa. Waxa suurtagal ah in aan siyaasadda ku qordino isaga iyo saaxiibadii. Kula taliya in uu qalinjoojin sameeyo. Haddii kale, cawri, habaar, iyo tartan siyaasadeed ayuu mutaysan.
AML MOU PROMISES IN KIGALI - WHERE IS THE TRAIL FOR $2.48 MILLION LEAVING SOMALIA? Governor Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi and the CBS Board: you announce cooperation with the National Bank of Rwanda on financial integrity, supervision and modernization. Stop presenting an AML agreement as an achievement while fundamental questions about your own cash-clearance practices remain unanswered. Start by answering questions about the cash movements your own institution authorizes. Documents supplied to my office by a source who checked the originals show Tawakal requesting permission to export $2.48 MILLION to the UAE on August 8, 2025, followed by CBS and Financial Reporting Centre letters facilitating the shipment. The letters identify the company, courier, amount, flight and destination. They do not disclose the detailed origin of the funds, the specific settlement purpose, the receiving institution or confirmation of receipt. My source further reports that standard letters are routinely issued without a supporting shipment-specific financial trail. That allegation demands independent examination - not another signing ceremony. Governor and FRC: what did you verify before issuing clearance? Where are the underlying customer and transaction records? Who owned the money? Why was physical cash necessary? Who received it in the UAE? Was any onward movement documented? The international standards are clear: FATF Recommendation 10: customer due diligence and scrutiny of transactions, including source of funds where necessary. Recommendation 11: records sufficient to reconstruct transactions. Recommendation 26: effective AML/CFT regulation and supervision. Recommendation 32: controls over cross-border cash movements, including declaration or disclosure and action against suspected illicit or falsely declared funds. These are international standards, not a finding that a particular Somali criminal offence has been committed. But they provide a concrete test of your claims about financial integrity. AN OFFICIAL STAMP DOES NOT ESTABLISH LAWFUL ORIGIN. A COURIER’S NAME DOES NOT ESTABLISH THE FINAL RECIPIENT. AN MoU DOES NOT RECONSTRUCT A CASH TRAIL. If supporting files exist, provide them to authorized independent investigators. If they do not, explain why clearance was issued and how that failure will be corrected. CBS Board members: demand the records and document your response. Your duty cannot end with appearing in photographs beside the Governor. National Bank of Rwanda, IMF, World Bank and AfDB: ask what this partnership will change in practice. Will it establish documented checks, reliable reconciliation and effective supervision - or produce more announcements while the alleged gaps persist? Preserve the requests, approvals, compliance files, cash ledgers, declarations, custody records and destination receipts. The documents establish authorization. They do not by themselves establish money laundering. That is precisely why an independent investigation must follow the money. PUBLISH THE CONTROL FRAMEWORK. PRODUCE THE RECORDS. ANSWER THE QUESTIONS. #Somalia #CBS #FRC #AML #IMF #WorldBank #AfDB #Accountability @IMFNews @IMFAfrica @mpf1somalia @WorldBankAfrica @AbdirahmanM_A @BihiEgeh @CentralBankSo @MoF_Somalia nitter.gq/CentralBankSo/status/2…

Today, the Central Bank of Somalia (@CentralBankSo) and the National Bank of Rwanda (@CentralBankRw) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of the CBS Board of Directors, strengthening our institutional partnership. The MoU provides a framework for cooperation in four priority areas: •Digital innovation and central bank modernisation. •Financial integrity and AML/CFT compliance. •Regulatory and supervisory frameworks. •Knowledge sharing through staff training, study visits and peer-to-peer exchanges. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to stronger institutions and resilient, trusted financial systems. It will help CBS deepen its expertise and advance Somalia’s financial sector reforms. We thank Governor Soraya Munyana Hakuziyaremye (@SorayaMHlive ) and the National Bank of Rwanda for their partnership and look forward to translating this agreement into practical cooperation and tangible benefits for both institutions. #Somalia #Rwanda #CentralBankRw #CentralBanking #FinancialStability #DigitalFinance

Ibrahim, I like the cartoon. It is creative. But are you being fair to the award recipient? Of course, Dr Afyare and I did not give the award. We were invited to present to the recipients of the awards. The awards were given by the Alberta Somali Heritage Association (ASHA). Propose your candidate next year and we would be happy to present it if awarded. Deal?
Professors @ProfHusseinWar and @afyare_elmi posing proudly with a notorious clan insulting troll who was handed an “Excellence in Journalism” award. This is who you choose to stand with? Your judgment and academic credibility are both in the gutter. Absolute shame.

Friends, stock markets in both the U.S. and Canada are down today, erasing almost all the gains they made over the past two days. After listening to President Trump’s speech at the 81st UN meeting in New York last night, I expected the markets to lose momentum. So I was not surprised. I have a background in mutual fund management and graduate training in business and economics. But surely President Trump’s speechwriters understand markets, too. Is it fair to wonder whether they anticipated this reaction, especially given the apparent slide in Canadian stocks and the loonie? Could this be connected to the tariff dispute between #US and #Canada? Please tell me I’m reading too much into it.

Dear Faiza. Somalinimo is not only alive, it is stronger than ever. Wherever we are in the world, we have become a force to be reckoned with. We have acquired many labels and brand names: tough, organized, pirates, and even “garbage.” We are both famous and infamous. We exist, we are visible, and we know who we are: Somalis. What we still lack, however, is a strong system of governance in Somalia itself, where the majority of Somalis call home. We are still searching for a system that works. It will happen, but it may take longer than we originally thought.
Good morning sunshine, Do you think Somalinimo left us in 1991 and still hasn’t found its way back? It just simply moved to overseas.

Friends. There is hope in the Somali conundrum. The recent experience of Somali Americans in Minnesota reveals both the danger of collective blame and the resilience of an immigrant community. Those who defrauded public programs should be investigated, prosecuted and punished. But they committed these offences as individuals, not as representatives of an entire people. President Trump’s description of Somalis as “garbage” improperly transformed allegations against particular defendants into an indictment of a whole community. Somali Minnesotans responded effectively: they condemned fraud, asserted their American identity and used humour, including the playful claim that Minnesota was their ancient “promised land”, to deny others the power to define them. Their response attracted broader public solidarity because it appealed to a basic democratic principle: guilt is individual, not ethnic. My visit to Minneapolis a couple of months ago only confirmed that conclusion. The deeper conundrum is that Somalis have built successful lives in the United States, Canada, Britain and elsewhere, while Somalia continues to struggle with governance. Yet this is not evidence that Somalis function well only outside their homeland. It suggests instead that institutions matter enormously. In countries where laws are relatively predictable, public authority is broadly accepted and education and enterprise are rewarded, Somali energy and ambition can produce remarkable results. In Somalia, the same human capabilities are constrained by political fragmentation, weak institutions, insecurity and persistent disputes over who legitimately exercises power. The diaspora’s success therefore challenges cultural explanations for Somalia’s difficulties. Somalia does not suffer from a shortage of talented people. It suffers from an institutional environment that too often prevents talent from serving the common good. The ultimate challenge is to convert Somali resilience abroad into inclusive, trusted and accountable institutions at home. To be fair, Somalia has made meaningful progress in rebuilding public institutions since 2000. Nevertheless, the process has been painfully slow. Let us hope that the current electoral cycle produces a government capable of accelerating institutional and economic development. Mobilizing domestic financial resources, particularly through taxation, is essential to this effort. A government that expects to finance only 26 percent of its 2026 budget through domestic tax revenue, US$337 million out of US$1.3 billion, cannot govern effectively or independently. Put simply, a modern state cannot function without taxation. Taxes do more than finance public services: they create a fiscal relationship between citizens and the state. When citizens pay taxes, they acquire a stronger basis for demanding transparency, accountability and competent government. Taxation is therefore not merely a source of revenue; it is also an essential foundation of state-building and democracy.

Friends: Accountability Is a Sign of Progress in Somalia. The recent findings (see the link below) released by Somalia’s Office of the Auditor General deserve serious attention, and genuine praise. By identifying weaknesses in internal controls, legal compliance, governance practices, and public-asset management, the Office is performing one of the most important functions of a modern state: ensuring that public institutions are accountable for the resources entrusted to them. The Auditor General and his staff should be commended for undertaking this difficult work and communicating their findings publicly. Transparency of this kind requires professionalism, institutional courage, and a commitment to the national interest. The purpose of an audit is not merely to expose shortcomings or assign blame. It is to identify weaknesses so that they can be corrected before they become more serious and costly. The Federal Government of Somalia also deserves recognition for giving the Office of the Auditor General the capacity and institutional space necessary to conduct its work. Governments demonstrate their commitment to accountability not by claiming that problems do not exist, but by empowering independent institutions to uncover them and recommend improvements. The next important step is to ensure that these findings lead to concrete action. I respectfully encourage Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre to convene a special meeting of the Council of Ministers devoted exclusively to the Auditor General’s findings. Each ministry should be required to explain how it will address the weaknesses identified, establish a timetable for corrective action, and report publicly on its progress. Somalia cannot build strong governance without sound financial management, effective internal controls, and careful stewardship of public assets. The Auditor General’s work therefore represents an important contribution to state-building and national development. The appropriate response to these findings is not defensiveness. It is appreciation, careful reflection, and decisive corrective action. Somalia should encourage this work and ensure that the Office of the Auditor General continues to grow stronger. hiiraan.com/news4/2026/Aug/2…

Dr Mohamed. You are onto something important. I will leave it to those who specialize in cognitive sciences. But suffice to say that the new generations are suffering from a phenomenon called "cognitive overload", caused by non-stop digital stimuli.
Waxa aan la yaabanahay odayaashii hore ee soo gaaray dowladihii Soomaaliyeed ee horreeyay, ilaa tii militariga ahayd, iyo sida ay u xoogganayd xusuustoodu. Waxa cajiib ah in dhacdo kasta, wada-hadal kasta iyo arrin kasta oo qof ama koox dhex martay ay si faahfaahsan u xasuustaan, sidii ay dhacdadu u dhacday. Xitaa hadalkii iyo qaabkii loogu yiri ma hilmaamaan, cidii goobta joogtay way xasuustaan, wax kasta oo dhacayna waxay u hayaan xusuus cad. Ha ahaado nin ama haweeney, askari ama wasiir, macallin ama qof darajo kale haya—waxay u muuqataa in xusuustoodu aysan si fudud u lumin. Dhanka kale, dadka maanta nool mararka qaar xitaa wixii ay saacad ka hor cuneen iyo qofkii ay la joogeen si sax ah uma xasuusan karaan. Dhacdooyinkii 24-kii saac ee ugu dambeeyay qaarkood way ku adkaadaan inay si faahfaahsan u sheegaan; qaarna haddii fiidkii la weydiiyo waxa ay quraacdeen, xitaa quraacdoodii way hilmaameen. Runtii, farqiga u dhexeeya xusuusta jiilashii hore iyo tan dadka maanta nool waa arrin mudan in laga fikiro. Maxaa sababay in odayaashii hore ay dhacdooyin tobannaan sano ka hor dhacay u xasuustaan si faahfaahsan, halka qofka maanta nool uu mararka qaar illoobo wax dhacay saacado yar ka hor? Cilmibaarisyo dheeri ah in dhankaa laga sameeyo aad bey u wanaagsantahay @SeraGaid @DrSaadiqEnow100 @alihwarsame @ProfHusseinWar @AbdiweliGaas @awkombee @EIshmael_

Saaxiibayaal. Nin #Soomaaliyeed ayaa waxa uu igu dhaliilay erayga "iyaguna" oo ku jiray daqiiqadda 53 aad ee waraysigan. Waxa uu ku fasiray in uu ihayo nacayb qabiilada ugu tun weyn #Somaliland oo aan ahay professor isku sheeg. Markii hore ma aanan garaysan eedaas. Laakiin, markii aan dib-u-fikiray ee aan dhinaca Soomaalinimada aan ka eego, waxa aan garaystay in aan fahmi karo doodiisa. Marar badan ayaan ku dooday in dadka #Somaliland dega aan lagu fogeynin qabiil. Haddii aan idhi "iyaga" miyaanan markaas sii fogeynayn. Keliya waxa aan cadaynayaa in aanu qabiil takoor ihayn. Waxa aan u qaybiyaa wadaniyiinta Soomaaliyeed "midnimo-doon", sida aniga, iyo "ictiraaf-doon", sida dawladda #Somaliland. Marka aan "iyaga" lahaa waxa aan ula jeedey "Ictiraaf doonka" oo dad ku abtirsada jufooyin badani ay wadaagaan. Doodaas waxa aan ka bartay in hadalkeena iyo ujeedadeenu ay iswaafaqaan oo afkeena ilaalino, xataa haddii ujeedadeenu ay sax tahay. youtube.com/watch?v=7Zi7uFtI…

During the last 15 days of July 2026, I was in Mogadishu, Somalia. It is a complicated city. Some of its buildings are as tall as the tallest ones in my hometown of Calgary, Canada. Yet there is also widespread poverty. The economy is highly U.S. dollarized, but people seldom seem to carry U.S. cash. Instead, the use of mobile money is remarkably widespread. On one of those days, I visited a popular high-end coffee shop. I ordered a large cappuccino, which cost US$2.82. I pulled out a US$5 bill to pay. The other customers were so surprised that I was using cash that a middle-aged man came forward and offered to pay for my coffee. I thanked him but declined his generous offer and handed the cash to the cashier instead. The cashier told me to wait while he looked for enough cash to make change. I told him that I would come back for it (I never did). As I waited, I looked around and watched how everyone else was paying for their coffee and drinks. Nobody was using cash. Everyone was paying with a mobile phone. Occasionally, people would glance at me and smile. I felt completely out of place. There were a couple of men who were older than I was, but they too were using their mobile phones to pay for everything. The only places where paying with cash did not seem to raise eyebrows were when leaving tips in restaurants and paying taxi drivers.

Dadka qaar waxa ay saluugeen in aan waqtigii Siyaad Barre ku tilmaamo "waqtigii warshadeynta". Qaarna waxa ay saluugeen in iyada oo midnimadeenii wax ka sii dhaceen, aan tilmaamo dhaqaale xoogeysan doona sanadaha soo socda. Adiga maxay kula tahay? youtube.com/watch?v=7Zi7uFtI…
