Just published in @SportsMedicineJ. We explore how bringing the principles of periodization in exercise medicine can transform it into a precisely targeted therapy, by tailoring mode, volume, and intensity based on cancer type, stages, and treatments @ProfRobNewton @Doc_Haff

Excited to share our work published in Journal of Cancer Survivorship. Exercise can reduce chronic inflammation and changes induced by exercise on body composition could mediate the inflammatory response. This reduces cancer development and recurrence.

Exercise training, especially combined RT + AT, can potentially reduce pro-inflammatory biomarkers in survivors of breast cancer. Considering association between inflammation and tumor progression, exercise should be routinely integrated. @Fbettariga oxford.ly/43TwXW8

Excited to see another piece of our work on how exercise can help fight cancer in EJCP. We found that exercise reduces cancer cell growth. There are several mechanisms involved, and muscles releasing factors seem to be one of the main factors @ProfRobNewton @EdithCowanUni

Thrilled to share our review (from my PhD) published in the renowned @BJSM_BMJ.
We found that higher levels of muscle strength or cardiorespiratory fitness are associated with a significantly reduced risk of mortality (up to 40%) in cancer patients

EXERCISE BEFORE PROSTATE CANCER SURGERY.
'For example, a man preparing for prostatectomy. They may have eight to 12 weeks until they're scheduled. It's absolutely critical that we get the man as fit as we possibly can before the surgery, because it just improves the outcomes. It reduces the risk of sexual dysfunction and incontinence. And also, of course, it reduces the anxiety that the man feels,' @ProfRobNewton, Professor of Exercise Medicine at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia.
