Very productive engagement at breakfast meeting with development partners and funders to discuss the implementation of Kenya's Science, Research and Innovation (SRI) Blueprint @sri_kenya @aphrc @SciforAfrica @FCDOGovUK @MastercardFdn
I reaffirmed the Government's commitment to building a coordinated, collaborative and impactful research ecosystem by breaking institutional silos, strengthening partnerships, and strategically investing in research that addresses Kenya's development priorities.
As we shape Kenya's post-Vision 2030 agenda, science, technology and innovation must remain at the centre of our transformation into a globally competitive, knowledge-driven economy. I called on our partners to align their support with the Blueprint's five strategic pillars and work with us to translate research into tangible solutions that improve the lives of our people.
I appreciate all our development partners for their continued collaboration and look forward to deeper partnerships that will accelerate innovation, strengthen research capacity and unlock sustainable socio-economic growth for ๐ฐ๐ช @CKyobutungi @Afroscientist @gatesfoundation @MusaliaMudavadi @nacosti @KENIAupdates @nrfkenya @AASciences @Kenya_aist @IDeAL_KEMRI_WT @OfficePCS_KE

Kenya's engagement with the Republic of Korea continues to unlock new opportunities in trade, investment, technology and skills development, reflecting the growing strength of a partnership that has flourished for more than six decades.
I joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto for discussions with H.E. President @Jaemyung_Lee of the Republic of Korea, where we reviewed progress in advancing our bilateral agenda and explored new areas of cooperation that can deliver tangible benefits to our people.
The talks highlighted the significance of the newly established offices of the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Nairobi, which are expected to deepen development cooperation, support infrastructure projects and catalyse greater investment into Kenya and the region.
We also explored ways of expanding market access for Kenyan products, including tea and coffee, while advancing labour mobility partnerships that can create more opportunities for Kenyan professionals, including teachers, in the Korean market.
President Ruto further welcomed the recent signing of the Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of Certificates for Seafarers, describing it as an important step towards expanding employment opportunities for Kenyan seafarers and strengthening Kenya's participation in the global maritime workforce.
These engagements underscore Kenya's growing diplomatic capital and its ability to leverage strategic partnerships to create jobs, expand economic opportunities and strengthen the country's position in the global economy.

From Charter to Action: Charting the Operational Future of @Kenya_aist. ๐ฐ๐ช
Following the historic award of the Presidential Charter to Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology - Kenya-AIST, I today held a strategic engagement with the institutionโs executive management team, led by Ag. Principal Prof. Jennifer Khamasi, to align on the next phase of operationalization and long-term institutional vision.
Our engagement focused on positioning Kenya-AIST as a globally competitive center of excellence in advanced science, technology, research, and innovation โ an institution envisioned to play a transformative role in shaping Kenyaโs future economy.
As Kenya advances its digital and industrial transformation agenda, Kenya-AIST will serve as a critical national platform for nurturing world-class talent, deepening scientific capability, accelerating research commercialization, and strengthening linkages between academia, industry, and innovation ecosystems.
Beyond education and research, the institution is expected to contribute significantly to economic transformation by catalyzing high-value industries, supporting advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies, driving innovation-led enterprise, attracting investment, and creating globally competitive jobs for the next generation of Kenyan talent.
Situated at Konza Technopolis, Kenya-AIST represents a bold national investment in a future powered by knowledge, innovation, and technology โ reinforcing Kenyaโs ambition to emerge as Africaโs leading knowledge economy and innovation hub.
The foundation has been laid, and the journey toward a globally competitive institution of excellence is firmly underway.

Our efforts to make Africa a connected continent are anchored on establishing a unified and borderless digital market to enhance innovation, trade and economic growth.
On its part, Kenya is taking the lead in digitisation and digitalisation in Africa, including our target of expanding the fibre optic broadband by 100,000km, training enough professionals, enacting necessary legislation and creating an essential framework for digital penetration.
Already, Kenya has digitised close to 30,000 government services from a low of 320 three years, boosting efficiency, reducing human interaction in the provision of services, and raising more revenue for government.
At the same time, 34,000km of fibre optic has been expanded using the national electricity grid and the building of 1,450 digital hubs in each ward across Kenya.
Met African ministers of ICT at State House Nairobi, who are in our country for the Africa Connect Summit 2026. This is a critical programme aimed at connecting the 1.5 billion people of Africa into a huge digital market.

Sabastian Sawe has broken the men's marathon world record in London.
The Kenyan is the first person ever to run a marathon in under two hours in race conditions โ his time was 1:59:30.
Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia, making his marathon debut, achieved the feat 11 seconds later โ 1:59:41.
Fittingly, like London buses, you wait an eternity for one, then two come along at once ๐
Remarkable.
